Deadwood Area?

A group of us went to Lead, it is about 1 mile up the hill from Deadwood. We stayed at the White House Inn. Cost was reasonable, plenty of parking. Trail leaves right out the parking lot. Went down to Deadwood every night to gamble and CHEAP food.

When we went they had continental breakfast and a hot tub. The hot tub was packed 24/7 because we were storm chasing 8' of fresh powder out there and so did everyone else. It was the end of the season and no snow in Iowa, Minn., Wis.

The riding was fun, alot of hil climbs and plenty of trails runing all over that "hill".

Have fun, remember....clutching and jetting required there because of elevation change from Iowa

(davenport, Iowa here).

I stayed at The Trails Head lodge in 2003 and it was a blast. Individual cabins that sleep upt o 6 that are located right on the trail. They have a garage to work on your stuff, if need be and the whole trip was very reasonably priced. They have rentals as well right there (AC's only...500 trail and 500 mountains in excellent condition), but we clutched and jetted ours and trailered them over...22 hour drive from SE. MI. We had a blast and yes, there are plenty of off trail and on trail riding. Plenty of sites. These are some of the smoothest and best maintined trails I've ever been on. People are very friendly. We met some locals and they took us on the VIP tour of all the best hill climbs and sites EG: old logging camps etc... I can't wait to go back someday, but we'll rent sleds next time.

Great timing were just getting ready to plan a trip to Lead as well staying in the Recreational Springs Resport.

Trails open on December 15. Usually the first good ridable snow (unless there is alot of early snow) has been around Christmas in my experiences.

Kinger, since you got my sled....ha! we will just have to go ride sometime. Western Iowa gets a few good storms and still can run some good drifts. Keep in touch would like to see how that thing runs on the bottle.

As for snow in SD, seams like they hold there snow near lead = highest area in SD much longer then us flatlanders.

Familyman - where you located? I'm near Mason City, I would love to ride sometime, and I have only seen bits and pieces of your build but it is a turbo rx? Yummy we will have to run'm! (no more then 4 times though :) ) ha ha :nos:
