LMAO!!!!! Deep???ya, your theories are definitely that!!!

I think I will clarify what I was referring to to help you understand, I was using lamen terms to describe it in the first post and maybe it wasnt the best word to use. The mixture that is being returned into the cylinder right before the piston closes off the exh port is a negative sonic wave, it is the same mixture that was previously burnt but may contain some more unburnt mixture as the 2 stroke engine is not clean burn design. Having said that, the signal strength of the pulse wave more less depends upon the angle and the diameter of the stinger pipe, and there is also the taper of the headpipe and center section diameter, but that brings in exh gas temp. thats a whole nother discussion. But with the stingers of these aftermarket pipes, usually are larger so you can hold the sled wide open across a lake. A large stinger takes heat out of the piston but reduces low speed response, power and torq. Its not as strong as say a stinger from a race pipe, a race pipe depending upon if its built for 500 ft drags or lake racing will vary in cone angle and stinger diameter. the smaller the stinger the stronger the negative pulse will become, but this sonic wave travels at the speed of sound or 1675ft per second. This sonic wave traveling back thru the pipe only merely returns the last bit unburnt fuel mix back into the cylinder just before the piston closes off the exh port, it hasnt added more volume of mixture, because the cylinder, ports and intake have not changed size, this returned mixture takes up volume and only so much more volume is able to be compressed without the aid of positve pressure from the intake side of the engine!

Without getting off topic, have you ever seen a viper or 2000 srx with black around the transfer ports? do you know why the black is on the bottom sides of the cylinders? its because the transfer port timing is too long allowing this returned exhaust mixture to be actually drawn back into the transfer ports and contamintaing the fresh mixture in the crankcase!!! just some more food for thought!!

Sorry but it allready happened!

Yea I'm sure you have seen it! On your howler piped srx that you raised the transfers on! Heard of blowdown time? Well you did'nt have enough!

Too even suggest that pipes don't raise your cylinder pressure is ridiculous.

Ya know what they say....If you can't dazzle them with briliance, baffle them with bullsh1t!!!

ya, well you may learn that you do in deed raise transfer timing in certain engines, for certain purposes, blowdown timing is something that gets changed.....oh ya, I forgot you know it all.......LMFAO, your a legend in your own mind!!! ............

you may want to get some reading material some time, or maybe write your own book on 2 stroke engine theory!!!!!!!!!

a good one for you to read or rewrite I should say would be 2 stroke performance tuning by A. Grahm bell, and then buy tsr racing software and rewrite all that too, let me know when your done, I will buy your first copy of it because you can show everyone in the world how to build a engine...cough,cough, better not race anyone though, you may get smoked like last year, then the excuses have to come rollin in, wasnt clutched right, spun, jetted too rich or maybe was it that dang cdi box....... thats was a pricelss post, I might see if I can dig it back up it was great entertainment, LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! have a great day there steveo!!!!!!!!! :wel:

your a legend in your own mind!!!

Better look in the mirror.

I'm just saying that the SRX box has a much better curve for tripple pipes, why are not willing to agree with that?

As Junoir would say...BAHHH I'm done with you man!

guys play nice or this thread will go bye bye. you both make good points and tuners all have their own theories and research and ways of getting power out of their tuned entities. but flaming each other in front of the boards only makes you lose credibility and creates hard feelings with the group. agree to disagree and move on please? ski

Shortstop, I put srx pipes on my viper , so if you need any help with what needs to be done, PM me and I will do my best. I am sure Scott has had enough questions on this, Especially from me!
Cheers, Steveo

I don't have a Viper. The only reason I asked is because it's always intrigued(sp?) me why the Viper is much harder to tune and get good MPG. I knew the Viper had more timing than a SRX but didn't realize it was 9 degrees. From what I've gathered in this thread a piped Viper gets less MPG than a SRX mainly because it needs richer jetting because of the hotter timing, mainly in the midrange?? There's more reasons, as you guys have stated, but in a nutshell, am I on the right track? I don't have any plans of buying a piped Viper, but knowledge never hurt anyone. ;)!

Let the go Ski

Come on Ski, there's more to learn by reading their arguments than there is in all the other currently active posts on this site. This is still clean. You moderators run a TIGHT ship!!

so very true

we have other members, advertizers and corperate to think about. we let it go for awhile, it was starting to go south in a hurry. a friendly reminder was in order. ski

Looky What I Found!!!!!

Read the trird post down.

http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=11207&page=5&pp=10
why would you want to rev it up over about 86-8700rpm now??? because of the cpr pipes?? the REASON they were revved to 9100rpm is so that the engine would be out of the high timing section of the viper box, with a srx box, you are not gonna need to rev it that high. I thought you had access to a dyno???, put on the box and go dyno the sled to see where your power will be, its gonna be under 9000 rpm now, I will guess at 86-8700. The bender pipes run this rpm, but this is why they blow up all the time too(high timing in viper box), but with a srx box, its gonna be fine. You guys are making a big deal out of nothing. Fix the squish, install a srx box and go to the dyno!!!! your not gonna know anything till you dyno it

Am I seeing things, or is mrviper recomending that an SRX box would be a better choice for tripple pipes? Says it would help prevent a burndown because there is too much timming in the viper box.

Hummmm?????

I would imagine that with the SRX box, you could run leaner jetting, thus improving you mileage!!!
Thats my story and i'm sticking too it!!!!

Sorry for the pot stir. :bash:

Steve, your up to more baffling I see................you just cant quit stirring up trouble can you, I have left mr sled a pm as your activity, will just let him handle you. have a nice day!!!!! :wel:

Yea thats fine.

I'm tired of being told that everything I post is wrong/bad info.

Now it's to the point that your actually contradictory of yourself.

post #13 was the answer to the question from the poster! simple as that, I never brought up cdi box timng and all this and that, its pipe design !!!

Its like this Steve, you make a misinformed statement, I made a correct statement in post 13, my original post. You dont seem to notice but its always you challenging me in these post.

that other cdi box information has absolutley nothing to do with this, its a differnt question, differnt answer, differnt post, there is differnt circumstances which change the answers to complete the questions asked.

I left this post alone last week. I have been told by 2 members here who called me and told me I am wasting my time arguing with you, and I believe they are right!!. its not going anywhere, never does. So no more from me, continue to call me names, or suggest that I have no idea what I am doing, whatever ,thats fine, but in reality its you thats very insecure about yourself, I mean why go to all the trouble to keep hounding a pointless isssue for 2 weeks, then keep trying to continue the argumentby trying to drag in a post from a completely differnt question, differnt circumstances, differnt answer??. Again, post 13, was the end of it right there.

I have been on this site since 2001, before opening my own shop I was technical advisor for Summit Racing Equipment for 7 years, so being able to tell people how things work and dont work are in my area. I find it alot of fun trying to help others gain as much as they can and maybe get a better understanding of how things work, some you can help, some you cant!!

due to the trolls dredging this up and causing turmoil on the site, THIS THREAD IS CLOSED! if members not involved continue feeding into turmoil and keeping feuds on going, they will be suspended and or banned along with the fighting members. we can and will not stand for this behavior. moderator team.
