ANyone ever decarbed there snowmobile?

I always run the highest octane availible on the trails but after buying a '88 skeeter bass boat with some issues,(that the deutchba- guy i bought it from forgot to mention and forgets to call me back or even answer the phone ever) Ive been going through the whole motor and boat getting her all tuned up and ive found a nother forum about mercury boat motors and one big thing the techs say to do for maitenence is decarb the motor with sea foam as a premix or you can get it in a can and spray right into the carbs. What do u think about using this stuff on an older sled like my '99 just as a preventative maitenece. :dunno:
 
Yeah the motor is a 100 hp inline 4 but at first does not want to go. When i hammer her she wont plane but then all the sudden ill hit the rev lever she finally clear out a bit and shoot right out of the water but I still think the motor doesnt run like it should. On the bright side its another toy to learn how to fix and will help me down the road with repairs on my sled motor as well.
 
CHECK FOR SPARK ON ALL CYLINDERS - could be weak CDI or Coil.

Seafoam is great stuff.

Seafoam is great it vill take all the varnish out of jets and carbs.You can also run it in your oil it helps seal up the rings.The 03 rx1's had some problems with burning oil and the sea foam cured alot of sleds from burning oil.You can get it right at Fleet Farm.

Yeah That will be my next step ive heard the cdi sits right under the flywheel and they've been known to meltdown and still work but poorly. I almost dont dare hook my compression tester up cause im scared to find the out come so before i do im going to do some cheap and easy maintenence. Thanks for the input guys.
 
seafoam is spectacular. seems everyone else agrees. never heard about the sealing rings thing though, might have to try that on my 00 civic Si. I always thought it used a little oil because of the high rpm (8000 rpm redline, and NO I cant keep it away from there! lol!) can also get it at napa
 
the yamaha product ring free is also good for this cuts down on the carbon on the powervalves and must help elsewhere in the motor and carb.
