What's the best mods to do on this machine, besides triple pipes? We have a can on it and a Hauck #3 clutch kit so far and are getting adj. transfer rods. Can you take a layer of head gasket out like on the 700 motor? This is my brother's first sled and he wants to mess with it a little. Any tips would be a great help. Thanks.
if it is the 600 venom pretty much any of the sxr600 mods should work on it. tell him to do the reed notch to it. it will crisp up the throttle response. have fun!

Oh man, ...here we go.
- better track than the camoplast cone, mods are minimal without a good hookup
- 51/43 helix (best thing I did to my sled)
- transfer rods
- drop the top sprocket by one tooth (stock is 20 teeth)
- reed stopper notch (it's free, check tech pages)
- remove a layer from the triple layer gasket (it's free, check tech pages)
- better shocks than the stock ones (I wore them out by 2000 miles and they are not rebuildable).
Cheers.

The helix allows the RPM's to climb faster (at any speed) which in turn gives you better throttle response.

it's not bad already as far as responsiveness goes, must try that 51/43.Tks. A clutch set-up or kit that could make it pull harder through the mid would be nice, it pulls good out the hole and finishes fast through the top but it should get through the mid quicker.
EH byes? LOL! spent some time in St John's/cornerbrook good snow up there.

Ya, eastern NFLD is not bad, sometimes we get rain mixed with the snow, but western NFLD is GREAT sledding. It's comparable to western Canada. Checkout the western NFLD sledders website www.lewishillbillies.com, especially their lastest DVD teaser.
We just got a Nor'easter and dumped 8 inches last night, ...got another 2 inches coming this evening. Time to dust the sled off, lol.

Hey Venom her's one for to think about- if I do the notch, drill the can & remove middle head gasket layer, to the venom er and it's over reving to 9000-9100 already in stock form, what kind of clutching will it need? Plus what rpm am I looking for?
Thanks
Have 5 cms on the ground now and 10 more on the way Wed. Lakes are higher than spring time and not even skimmed over yet!

The sweet spot for the Venom is 8500-8600 RPMs.
In the tech pages I found this...
99 SX600 Trail
51/43 Helix, 8-ca weights 0.8g in tip, 2-3 engagement shims, stock spring primary, silver secondary, 1 or 2 layers removed from head gasket and 20/40 gearing. Jetting: 140 mains
I hope this helps.

YGY primary, red (stock) secondary, 60-70degrees , 51/43 helix
So would that be hole #2 secondary and hole # 3 in the helix for 60 Degrees?
