I took a compression reading on the engine
they were both 110.
mileage is 4500
what would you guys recommend doing?
replace just rings?
rebuild engine?
thanks joe
no I did not tear the engine apart yet.

110 is a little low i'd take it apart and give a look see. unless the cylinders are scored and the pistons look bad like have any major scuffs or scratches i would just put a new set of rings in it and you should be laughing. if you want to up the compression a bit more and give the motor a little more power and snapiness take the stock head gasket (it should be 3 layers riveted together), drill out the rivets so the 3 layers seperate and take the middle layer out then just use the 2 outer layers. don't worry about riveting them back together the cylinder head studs will hold them in the right position. to make sure you have a really good seal you can sray some spray on gasket maker on all sides of the gaskets, i use a product called high tack gasket maker. it works really well. i rebuilt one of those motors last year it's an easy one to work on lots of room. good luck
