hello, any help you could give me would be great. last winter on our last ride i started to hear a loud howling sound in the track area, i looked thinking mabye i had a ice chunk or somthing in there there was nothing. i was thinking mabye a bearing went out on a boogie wheel or somthing. they all feel relativly good. but what i did notice is that the two return idler wheels were rubbing on the transfer rod nuts! i was going to take the wheels off and check the bearing but i can't get them off. is there a trick to this or am i missing a clip or somthing? mabye the busings in the h-arm are wore out causeing it to rub? any idea would help. thanks

it is autualy rubbing on both side i just have pic of the one side
It looks to me that you have them adjusted way to far up! I have Maxx perf rods on my SRX, I'll go check how mine look and let you know.
Just checked mine, and I deffinitly think your way off the scale of adjustment. There should be a set of grooves(5 or 6) in the rod, the high side of your adjusment nut should be lined up with one of these.
I can get you a pic if needed.

With no one on the sled you shouldn't have any gap on the bottom. You have 50/50 gap in the pics with no one on the sled. You have the nuts adjusted up way to hi. You need to get you set up closer to right, and then see what you have. Maxdlx
It looks like the rear shock is a steel bodied black shock. I think your shock might be bagged. Maxdlx

IF you have another hole on skid rails move bottom location there (more backwards) and adjust again.

thats the only hole in the rails. is there a c clip holding the wheels? should they just slide off?
Dont worry about the wheel, just turn the adjustment nob until you see the grooves in the shaft. The first groove you come to will be maximum transfer, I would move to about the 3rd groove(line up with the top of adjuster) .
Looks like your rods arent long enuff...like they werer shortened ..mine are alot longer than those.the mark- lines are supposed to be on top of the nut not the bottem!

Those rods are long enough, look at all the rod sticking out the bottom side with no weight on the sled. There should be no gap on the bottom. If you add the bottom gap to the top gap, he has a 3 inch gap. Maxdlx

so should there be any space on the bottom of the rod with no weight on it? if i have it adjusted correctly? if there is would that mean the rear shock is bad?
More likely a bad shock spring, the spring primarily holds your sled up, not the shock. Look for anything else that might have come lose, shock spring retainer maybe?
Can you post some better pics, maybe sideview.

i took the rear shock off and i can compress it just with my body weight pushing down on it. that seems alittle weak to me. whats a good place to buy a shock and a spring.
You have the lower bolt in the wrong mounting location. Heres a pic of my Viper, sorry about the snow.lol My lower bolt is mounted back further, hidden by the rear Idler wheel. This is the stock location.
Also, I think you should be able to compress the shock with your body weight.

As long as the spring was off the shock when you compressed it... it's ok. You are supposed to be able to compress it with just your body weight. What you want to make sure of is that it will rise back up on it's own afterwards. Keep in mind how much spring pressure you have... try compressing THAT with your body weight. lol
Yes, check you control rod mounting location. That could really mess up your geometry.

newer mountain maxes have the control rod mounts in front of the rear idlers just like the 00-02 srxs.
