I think that ad shows two different things..
One; already covered, is that ski-doo is feelin the heat and need to emphasize the only thing they got going for them, light weight.
The second, is actually not bad, it is more of a bonus for Yamaha. Why would they park a skidoo to a superior looking Apex. Nevermind all the other reasons why the apex is a great sled, just strictly looks here, and the apex makes that doo not look so good, especially with all the stuff they had to "add" to it.

Another thing thats cheezy but more subtle is that the ski-doo guy is wearing a suit that color matches his sled and the Yamaha guy is wearing neutral colors.

I'm surprised that Doo would put an advert out like this...they are my second choice in machine purchase...and other than the ring problem the SDI is an amazing engine I thought...They don't need to stoop so low...but after this add..they just gave yamaha free advertisment and or compared themselves with Team Blue...and not Team Green...
This is getting interesting indeed...

You took the words right outta my mouth!

Maybe there comparing it to a 600 because the apex races in the 600 class?
why would they campare it that way? does it beat the apex in the 600 class?

thats funny. sad to see them at that level, but I guess the apex is the sled to shoot for. trying to convince people they are a better sled. if it were really obvious, they wouldnt have to beat us to death with the whole "2 strokes are better guys, REALLY!" thing. it is getting old

Well guys I was wrong in thinking that the Legend 800 4stroke was compareable in weight to the RTX. According to Supertrax mag. the wet weight of the RTX and Legend are 628 and 535 respectively but the fuel tank is larger on the Yammi and as far as performance goes, well........ the Legend is rated at 65hp. Also, the RTX is within 13 pounds of the MachZ!

Tom the apex and the rev 600 are very competitve afgainst eachother that's wht isr put them in the 600 class and the nytro/vector run in the 500class.They are very close when you have traction like, grass, ice, asphalt but you put them on snow and it's a different story the apex hangs with the bigger sleds.

Something else that is kind of interesting, Ski Doo does not post the weight of their sleds (at least I can't find it) on their website like Yamaha does - who is to say what their sleds weigh - I don't trust the magazines to give accurate accounts - I do know that there is less than 20 lbs difference between the Mach and the Apex but they obviously don't want to acknowledge that - the RX1's did feel heavy in the front end to me, but after 700+ miles on an Apex last year, weight was never a noticeable issue

Thats crazy for them to do that. Yamaha has done such a great job designing this sled and in my opinion is much more of a superior product than the REV. I thought for sure the apex would eat the rev in short drags. Didnt know they were that close. Maybe has to do with the apex extra weight?? But still not bad for a sled that runs in the 600 class and runs with them all on the snow. I dont see skidoo getting sled of the year lately
I'm in sales and marketing.
IMHO it's a big no no to mention the other guy.
If your takling about them then your either not talking about yourself
or your compairing yourself with their product giving your opponent the advantage.
If the sales guy from brand Y says were better than brand X, I'm thinking to myself why is this guy afraid of brand X?

It's nice to ride for a manufacturer that can at least count to 4 and doesn't have a IQ of 2
