BRP on the run!

True, but if they wanna "play fair" they should compare a 1000 to a 1000. Whats next, is Doo gonna compare the Freestyle to the Apex in terms of weight?

So true! They should compare the Phazer to the bug about to hit the windsheild, oops I mean the freestlye.

I like how Revs ride, but hate how they feel. I can't believe no one complains about the fricken top of the footwell digging into your shins. The GSX SDI I rode last year felt OK at best, but for the most part I felt like it was just cheap. Amazing how quality in a product can be felt as well as seen. My buddy bent his upper A arm and broke his stock shock in half....by running over a 2 foot long x 2 inch stick..we were all shocked (pun intended). He replaced the stock shock for 34.95...that's quality right there folks. I spent more on my grips. Now that is not a bash, because I feel they all make a good product, but Yammies just have the feel of quality and comfort.

shortstop you are right the mtn sleds are the only one's with the new motor. That was the same thing last time they redesigned the 800 engine it was in the summit.
Tom I agree the new 800 will be a contendor and the mtn sled they dropped 15 more lbs.I"m a yamaha guy but I think some people are to hung up on yamaha and are in denial.Every brand has there perks and downfalls even yamaha so that's why I never bash other brands.

I bought a New Exciter in 1988 when everyone had Wildcats, Indy 650's and Mach 1's....safe to say I know some yamaha "downfalls" real well. I like the sled but I had work my a$$ off to make it run with the big sleds. I put more then a few pistons in it. Plus had more then one ride home "on the hook".

I really can't think of a sled I don't like...as long as it has a motor I like it.

play fair trail sled to trail sled there not on the lake...... and besides at hay days the apex 1000cc is with the 600's come on yamaha play fair put the apex on the line with the mach or the f 1000
:2strokes:

Actually, if they wanna play fair they should pit the Apex against 500s. Seing as how a 2-stroke gets a power stroke every other revolutions of the crankshaft whereas a 4-stroke gets one every 4 revolutions of the crank, that would make it fair.
The fact is, FEARMORGAN, the Apex could probably hang with the 1000cc smokers in a 600'-1000' grass drag race. In spite of the 20 hp advantage, the Apex hangs with the Mach Z very well.

I'm not big on the idea of 2 stroke racing 4 strokes. No one will ever see eye to eye on just what class (or cc) a 4 stoke should run in. Run them in a 4 stroke vs 4 stroke class.

But then look at what BRP has to do with 4 stroke water craft to keep up with the 2 strokes. Supercharge them! Yamaha does a good job for using a "all motor" setup to race some very good 2 strokes.

I don't think Ski-doo is running scared. When Yamaha went 4 stroke they went after the 2 strokes pretty hard to convert people to 4 strokes despite the fact they were still selling them. That makes Yamaha the logical target for ads stressing the advantages of their 2 strokes. Polaris and Cat have hedged their bets with both technologies far more than Ski-doo has and makes them poor targets for advertising comparative benefits of SDI or Powertek 2 strokes. Not dirty pool just firing back and returning Yamaha volleys. I'm definately not trying to re-open the seeming endless debate of 2 vs.4 that's just the way I see their ad.

With all the other brands being so commited to 2 strokes, why has none of them brought back a triple triple? - can they not get the triples clean with SDI, DI, or EFI? - I think I read that somewhere - none the less, if someone could bring back a clean triple triple they would sell the sh#t out of them - I would buy one regardless of the brand - just can't beat that triple sound! ;)! :2strokes:

because the magazines (ahem, amsnow, snogoer, ahem) tell us we want twins cause they are soooooooo much lighter and have such an incredible tq advantage...

I agree, BRP are the avatar of the 2-stroke engineering standpoint... the standpoint that yamaha is attacking the s**t out of atm, I also see it as a "returning fire" thing.

it's not the ammunition I would use, but whatever. I'm also surprised to see so much anti-2-stroke stuff on this board, given that we're all 2-stroke owners.

In any case, I don't wanna get anything going, but if this is "running skeered" I would like to know what you guys thought the Johnny Sceptical series was/is.

All I care is that the fight is heating up, and nomatter which side you choose, we'll all get better sleds out of the deal.

I agree with Junior. Brand loyalty is fine, but some of us have a little bit too much "blue blood" I think. If the sled I ride is a Yamaha, awesome, if it's not, oh well. No sense in riding a sled that you don't like as much as another just because it's "x brand". I have no idea what my next sled will be. All I know is it will be at least a 144" track. I'm leaning towards an M8 153", but a Apex Mountain or Summit 800R are possibilities as well. I want to ride them all and then make my decision from there. I've got 2-3 years before that time though.

I got to be honest - I like the looks of the new Polaris Dragon - the reviews so far on the 700 have been very positive - looks to be another F7 - if only it were a TRIPLE!!!

Well I visited one of my local Yamaha Dealers showroon to look at their inventory.Seen a couple of Vipers I wouldn't mind, but to my surprise there me be a little trading going on to get your hands on a YAMAHA. Seems like someone traded in their Artic Cat for a Yami and and a Ski-doo Rev for a Yami.Does the mystery thicken. Are others finally finding out about true blue quality, and want in on it. Could be a trend maybe or what.LMAO.Some sucker is going to buy them other brand sleds at a Yami dealer probably at a cheap price just to clear them off the floor...feel sorry for them. :dunno:

And as for being loyal to one sled is bad, lets look at the past. Had 2 SKI-DOO products before my Yamaha, and I wasn't to pleased with them. Break downs,ie...chain case blew apart while I was on the river, oil everywhere, sled was only a couple of months old. Lucky warranty paid for that. Had to wait over 2 hours untill someone came buy and finally towed me home. With 5 different Yamaha products I put them thru the grinder and they still came out ok.My first sled was an Exciter 440,man did I run that sled hard, not a break down after 5000 miles, but traded in for an SRX. Had a 3 wheeler that I put thru hell, you name it ,I did it.But ended up with 2 stainless steel plates in my left wrist because one episode didn't go according to plan.My SXR is bulletproof also. I drive it hard and always have it pinned. It just keeps on ticking and ticking.Love Yamaha.Looking for a quad from Yamaha next year.
