I'll be going to scope out a 2000 SXR600 this weekend, and will run a compression test, can someone tell me what the compression is from the factory? And how much variance between cylinders is acceptable?

Thanks

there aren't compression specs because there is too much variability. I've remove all plugs, WOT, and try for consistancy when pulling over.

you can check for compression variances from cylinder to cylinder. and you can check for worn rings by seeing how much compression climbs by adding a few drops of oil.

I don't know the variances that are generaly considered acceptable.

i just sold that same sled this spring. the compressin in mine was always around 145. give or take some depending on the testor

Yea... it really matters on the tester. I think a bare reading should be about 115 and a high reading almost 150.

With two different testers on a fresh top end i got 150 with the higher tester, and 125 with the low tester.

Just depends which one you get.

you cant always count on the gauge reading as accurate.
Mine reads 112, 113, 115 but my gauge has been dropped a few times.
I know my compression i shigher then that after putting new rings last year.

mine shows 98,99,99. with less than 900 org miles

You need a new compression gauge.. because thats way too low.

I'm reading a consistent 135/137/137
Ended up buying this machine... super deal.

Thanks for the info..
