does the Straight exhaust Do anything to the engine life jetting or Gas Milage?

the main concern is the Reliablity. Do they effect the reiablity of the engine over a long period of time? thanks to anyone who says anything to this

Are you taking about just running a straight pipe in place of the entire exhaust system or just the silencer?

If you run the entire exhaust your engine will lose power, not to mention the noise in both cases. Try starting your sled with the silencer removed and see how it sounds.

You talkin about straight piping your sled all the way from the exhaust port? Even so with three individual pipes? Or just one Pipe? Either way i'm not too confident about it.

two-stroke pipe designs create a "turbo" effect with the resonance (?) sorry not to sure on the terminology here. i'll try to explain the way i understand it as best as possible. the engine sparks and combusts shooting the exhaust out into the pipe, the pressure bounces of the pipes "cone" shape at the opposite end and shoots back towards the exhaust port and pushes pressure into the cylinder and keeps the intake charger there under pressure untill the cylinder comes back up, closes off the port, and then combusts again and repeats. get what i mean? if not, i looked up a little animation that explains it better http://www.southernskies.net/page_pics/miss/two-stroke_c.gif check that out and you'll see what i mean. so no, don't straight piper your snowmobile. and no don't straight pipe it after the expansion chambers cause that means no muffler and lots of noise which will result in trail closings due to unhappy people.

It will change your jetting and the amount of heat you retain in the pipe/piston, so its not just a do and ride kinda thing, the pipe will have alot less backpressure and will take some tuning to make it run correctly. The pipe will still retain its reverse pulse properties as long as you dont change the stinger diameter where it meets the rear cone in the pipe.

It will get you bird shot in your rearend by your neighbors!!

Hey he lives in labrador were the trails are wide and the caraboo are tall the lakes are froze and the well you get the idea! Its like sledding in alaska. You need someone like jaws to build you custom pipes to match your moter and alot of tuning to compensate. Its pricey tho.

im just doing it to have some fun, you know Be noisey and Obnoxious. not looking to score Any Horse power by anymeans. I just wants to be heard thats all, hehehe

I have bender Trips and instead of using the stingers im going to replace them with Straight stingers... Here, im doing an Exact Match of these.. These are Powervalve-700's stingers.. What do ya think?

Like i said, just in it for a laugh, Just wondering If it will Screw me over in the long run Even with the Proper setup needed. the 90* bends look harshe but maybe it produces the B/P needed?

Bluewho: Its Caribou. lol

Gees man that looks awesome.. guess it solves the powder bogging problems also.. (that most people fix by mounting a deflector).

But.. I bet that when you get back from snowmobiling, you will hear this "dingdingdingdingding" in your head.. for a few hours.. it will be loud and probably uncomfortable to ride.. .

Are there any other ways to do a straight exhaust w/ silencer ?.

Oh, I don`t think you will loose power, the resonnance created by the expansion chamers in your pipes, has nothing to do with the silencer, atleast not that I know of.

?.

Thanks to Powervalve-700 for the idea. It is Very loud, Infact you have to wear earplugs just to help ignore the noise level. I think you'd go deaf after a hour of riding with that thing. I test drove it for 3 minutes and its brutal! i can't wait, gonna make so many people mad ;)

you know why sledders get trails closed? because of noise pollution. thats why companies are constantly having to restrict their engines more and more to keep the dB level down (as well as emissions level). there was a story awhile back about a young guy who had an "aftermarket" silencer and he used to race back and forth from home to work and this path he took ran behind quite a few houses and he would run it early in the morning and late at night. well one day one of those house owners got very upset and strung some braided steel line across two trees, decapitating the guy instantly when he zipped through that night heading home from another day at work. your not even doing it for the right reasons.

I have a tried and true exhaust mod that is guarenteed to make your sled the loudest one around. The great thing is that no one else has to listen to it but the driver.
Interested?????????????????

Alright, I'll let you in on the secret. Costs almost nothing but does require a trip to the hardware store.

You'll need about 6 feet of flexible metal dryer vent pipe, some hose clamps, a roll of duct tape, and a 3 inch hole saw.

1. Attach one end of the pipe to the exhaust outlet of said snowmobile. Secure with clamp of your choice.

2. Attach hole saw to drill and bore a hole in your helmet at the spot where your ear sits and attach the open end of the pipe to the hole you just made.

3. Gear up, put on helmet, and fire up the sled.

4. Go for a ride and get back to us on how it sounds.

If one hole isn't loud enough you can drill a matching hole in the other side of your helmet and attach pipe here as well. This would require a y joint in the pipe and should only be necessary for the guy that wants a "mod" sled.

Give it a try. Your neighbors and those of us that like to have trails and such to ride on will thank you for it.

SXVIPER32: I agree with you 100%. I think its a retared idea unless your just racing or have it hooked up on a lake sled only. Only purpose is to get attention and piss people off.

auji700triple: Roll with Ryan B's idea or keep your s*** in CANADA

honestly, im 18 years old i have nothign better else to do with my time. i am in Goose bay Doing a Trade, theres not much here i can do until the snow comes. with all the time i've got to waste im going to make up an exhaust that is going to be like in the picture.

So Sxviper32, and ryan b My mom told me this years ago and maybe yours have too... If you got nothing better else to say, dont say antyhign at all.... Next time remeber that cuz i really dont care what you guys tell me.

do you honestly think im going to drive that skidoo out late? what kind of person do you think i am?

ryan b --- i think that was the stupiest ideas i've ever heard. hahah better luck next time...

Topgunsrx --- HELL YEAH!

Ok I'm 21 and know how to work with metal. But still wouldn't considered doin something like that to ride on the trails, just to piss people off. Cause thats what you posted. Its called consideration, something you and Rich aka topgunnsrx dont have and know nothing about. But hope you go through a few pistons tryin to tune it. But I'm bout done here, too much ignorance for me.
