Last year I realized that my boots seperated at the joint of the sole and the upper. It made a nice direct opening to my liner and my sock and then my foot. I'm thinking new boots. These boots would primarily be just for snowmobiling. Maybe one or two outings ice fishing (but I usually leave them up north and just use my hunting boots.) What are some recommendations for a decent warm and dry boot that isn't absolutely outrageous priced. I'm thinking in the $50 to $100 range. I've seen the Truk's and others....

I like my Altimate boots. They're not a fancy boot but I like them. Warm, breathable, and comfortable. My feet have never been cold in these boots. I hate boots that are stiff, that's why I like these as they have soft sides, not rock hard like an HMK or similar. :) They're a little more than $100 though I think.

I will never buy any other boot other than BAFFIN, My 2 boys, wife and myself all have them..I have the black rubber boots with liners rated for -100..I ride and ice fish my feet have never been wet, cold or sweaty ...They are $109 Canadian ..I am not sure if they are available in Michigan, but it be worth looking into...

Truke boots!

By FAR the best boots I have ever had of any type for the winter have been my Truke boots. I bought a pair six or seven years ago and finally wore them out from all the hunting, ice fishing snowmobiling and playing around in the snow I had done. They are extremely warm and feel more like a large shoe than a boot. My next pair is going to Truke once again!!!

Altimate-Sno-Max.
I have had these boots three seasons and cannot believe they held up to the punishment I put them through. Never had a pair of boots last over two seasons.
They are almost like a sno-board boot. Very stiff with great support and traction.
Each to their own I guess.

get some ice climbing, cold weather mountain climbing boots. I had some Asolos that were the best boots I ever owned. lasted 6-8 years. normaly I trash regular shoes in a year or less. they were warm enough, but with a very thick sole, so you wouldn't get the chill from the ground. great ankle suport. tough as hell.

I like my Altimates good value for the price. I would recommend getting a boot drier if you go with Altimate. They are so warm your feet may sweat if it is not cold enough. I have been riding with them in temps down to -45 where my feet got a little cold on the way home. Could have been from sweat. Now I change my socks midway through ride and that seems to help alot.

I checked what I had before. I had CKX Aklivak or something like that. They were ok, but if I were in deep snow, they'd pop right off.

Do many vendors bring boots to the show?

Several vendors usually have boots at Novi with good to very goood prices. ShadeTree usually has several to choose from.

In my opinion there are better boots than the Altimates, but you may pay more for them. For the price the Altimate is a good boot.

HMK also makes several nice boots that ranks right up there with Klim, and R.U. Outside.

I bought a fog-e-vader from ru outside a couple of years ago. It worked, but having a goatee, it kinda made me smell funny. Maybe it was my breath....

I bought some of thier thermals at the same time. Super thermals. The only thermal top that I bought that has been warmer was a underarmor cold gear turtleneck. That's about like wearing a wet suit....

I have a pair of Trukke mid hight lightweight boots. They are about like wearing tennis shoes. My feet have never been cold. Don't recall what they cost tho.
