put new bar riser on now throttle is all goofy only goes blaaah. how do i fix the T.O.R.S. I'm starting to hate sleds

you need to adjust the throttle on the carb rack. it is probablly to tight. Maxdlx

Yes, either that or the throttle cable is bent a funny way from the riser and is hanging up, kicking in the tors. I wouldn't unhook the tors, full throttle into a tree is a scary ride.

You will see the connections on the top of your carbs.
Unplug the two connections. Plug the two that are on top of the carbs together.
Then take the other two male and female ends and plug them to each other.
Just make sure that your carb cable is adjusted correctly.

dont by pass the tors i learned teh hard way when it took off into my buddies garage and i wrecked his grill and put a hole in teh wall when i grabed teh ski to turn it
bypassing the TORS has nothing to do with idiots running into garages. It is true that if the throttle cable is too tight it will activate the TORS. It is a safety feature and in case of an accident where your sled is upside down and pinned wide open, it will activate. In no way will bypassing it allow the sled to go into trees at WOT, you are misunderstanding it's purpose.

Chances are your riser is causing your throttle cable to be too tight and is engaging your TORS like mentioned above. To fix this you should loosen the lock nut on the carb rack and then thread down the trottle cable linkage until you have approximately 2-3 mm of free play in the throttle lever.
On another note, if you throttle cable is too tight, you may want to check you oil cable and make sure that it's not pulled out of its adjustment housing. This will cause the system to always dump oil in the engine as if it were wide open.
Once the throttle cable is adjusted as stated above, you should not have to touch your TORS.

By bypassing it it sure can let your sled go into the trees. If the cable comes undone, and the throttle on the rack is wide open, but the thumb throttle is closed it will shut down. bypassing is only good for diagnoisis. Maxdlx
OK well let me rephrase this. By bypassing the TORS it will not make your sled go at WOT. Now if it is stuck at WOT w/ it bypassed than yes, you have cut out the Throttle Override and yes it will end up in the trees. if the cable breaks there is a stop on the rack that is spring loaded and wont go to WOT, unhook the cable and you will see it wont go to WOT but rather back to idle.
My 97 had the cable freeze in the housing, and it pulled out of the thumb throttle. Had it not been for the tors, well it would have hit a tree SOONER. lol maxdlx

I did not check the oil cable hell didnt know there was an oil cable track that down next thanks
its the bottom of the 2 that connect to your thumb throttle.

BBluesrx. the TORs is a safty feature liek said i didnt mean taht it would make teh sled go WOT but it pervents it in event that the cable sticks while u are WOT or if the cable is too tight and u turn the bars and it pulls on it like it did on me. i had just put a raiser on and i was trying to get it in teh gagrage after testing it and i puled the ski to turn teh sled and it took off at maybe 1/4 throtle and if teh TORS was conected it never would have. what i was saying is its a safty feateur that shouldnt be bypassed. i had a kid my age die last winter because his trotel stuck open because he played with his bars and put a riser on. if by passing teh TORS fixes the problem it only means its teh rout of a bigger problem that should be taken care of insted of just leaving it bypassed. if teh TORS is kickin in it means the cable is too tight or the sensor in carb or throtel lever is bad.

Well I will not undermind safety I will go through the cables again and make sure proper adjustment of throttle cable is set and oil cable. I just thought about this it didnt do this till I put my bar pad back on I'll check there first

On my 94 Vmax 600 I had to remove a cable tie or 2 and that gave me enough length on my throttle cable. Adjustment info should be available in Tech Section. I beleive Daman has tech pages for this also.
