Hey guys, found some aluminum sheet today and decided to make aluminum windage plates. I used aluminum because it is easier to machine and what we had. To my suprise, there was a much bigger benefit to it. The plates were .42 pounds lighter then the stock steel plates. I know it may not sound like alot but for something so small I was not predicting these kind of benefits. Suprised me. Just thought I would share.

Not yet, I can get some if you would like but they are just the plates that cover your secondary like the thing I sprayed blue in this pic. Imagine it beling a raw aluminum color or polished. I will get pics asap. Also here is the link to the poll. Great investment! I can also get a picture of weight loss.

I've been looking into a set of windage plates but Max Perf closed down...More or less I was just thinking to Accesorize my machine and the slight rotating weight reduction...but seriously...2-3 mph speed increase?...is this true?..can anyone else confirm?...
If so...I'll take a set...

2-3 mph is being highly optimistic. You generally see 1-1.5 mph gains on a general sled. I had a group buy for these over on the www.ty4stroke.com side of things back in the spring and sold roughly 45 sets of windage plates and will also be ordering more soon to restock our shelves. Check out the post http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=26909. The gains were noticed when going from no windage plates (since they don't come on the 4-stroke models) to adding windage plates. You may only see very little gain when going from the steel OEM windage plates to the aluminum ones.

Yes, gains can be as high as 2-3 mph but there is definitely a gain from going from no plates to aluminum ones. If you have steel plates already, the gain will probably not be noticable but in the long run it is less rotating mass which is always good. If there is enough interest, we can start making mass quantities of these. I will get pictures tonight if possible. Thanks

If your not interested in top speed, its probably best to not use the plates, as the clutch will cool better without.

If your clutching is correct the plates add barely any heat at all. I would not recommend the plates if you are going to run alot of powder/off trail, etc.

you just keep postin all wrong facts. people look for facts not what someone randomly spews off without thinking.

What are the benefits to someone who is mainly a trail rider? Not an extreme mtn rider or a mogul buster, just the average everyday joe trail rider who like to go quickly on the trail as conditions permit.

So I'm guessing for the all around rider..Powder..Lakes..trails..ditches...the Windage plates are a good purchase...I can't see them hurting anything...and if ya gain .5 or 3hp...hey why not...

Truly no disadvantage to these plates. They offer more topspeed without sacrificing anything else. As SRXSpec stated, if clutches are tuned properly, really no temperature gains. I think on average the clutches are 10-15 degrees warmer with these plates on which is not enough to effect anything. The only time I wouldn't recommend these is if you are hard on your clutch and you are already have problems with a hot clutch. These plates would be a benefit to 95% of the riders out there. For $30, how can you go wrong?

If you are interested in these, we accept paypal at Paypal@CBPerformanceParts.com

Clairify with me for your total price because shipping still needs to be determained. The raw aluminum finish front and back windage plates are $30 and the polished front and back windage plates are $45. Just post your address if you are interested and I can give you your final price. Thanks
