Alright I have been removing alot of the foam under my hood including the RH side of the belly pan, cause of my SLPs I'm installing. Any foam I pull off its getting replaced with High Grade Heat Tape. But can some tell me the point of all the foam underneath the hood???? Only point I can see is to attrach mice. Esp. on the clutch side, cause if thats gunna blow that foam sure anit gunna stop a peice of metal that was spinning 9,000 rpms. It may slow it down but it'll still blow through it. So please feel free to share any ideas or theorys behind all that foam.
Sound.
Hey expertxviper take a look at my post for adding NEW seat foam to a seat. The guy added it to his rx1 and it looks like a flattop. What do you think? I may do this mod on my 03 viper?

Well if thats the only reason, so its all coming out. Cause thats not gunna make a huge diff. anyway and I'm not takin any more chances with mice takin my foam and makin nests with it. Moth balls dont always work and neath does tin foil. Cause they ate through both in my dads 84 phazer and got into the airbox at are cottage up north and they are stored inside. Cause thats the next project I have after my sled is done.
My experience with foam, I believe is no fun esp. adding it and having to re-wrap it. I would also like to know if that seat cover will last cause it does look like its going to burst. I have been brain storming my seat riser idea seen last night. And my idea is taking 1 3/4 aluminum round stock cuttin it to 3 1/2-4 inch long tapping through the whole thing for the size of the bolt that comes through the tunnel. Screw that alum. peice onto the tunnel and buying metric bolts to hold the seat down. Put the seat on and see how it looks. If it looks good like that a may leave it or a may fab up a cover peice outta sheet aluminum. Cause this way all I have to do it bend everything into shape, polish it and rivet it to the tunnel. No WELDING involved. Thats what I have so far, but I'm working on gettin my pipes and skid on first cause thats my mean priority and more time consuming. Cause shes motorless right now.

The foam is for sound insulation - to meet noise laws.

PZ1 is correct. The foam is intended as a sound deadener.

Hmmm, I diddn't know that. I guess you do learn something everyday. So there's really no downside to removing your foam except for a little dB increase?
