Hyfax removal problems

I need to replace the hyfax on my Viper S. Read the tech article on this site.
It appeared that I needed to open the windows up a little to get the hyfax out through the window of the ripsaw, so I did with a dremel. One side came out with a bit of a fight, the other side, I have way to much time into.
I was able to get the hyfax to start coming out of the window, but I can not get a good grip on it. Screw drivers are not moving the hyfax any more, so I'm about ready to pull the skid out, and do it right. FYI track tension has been removed.
Any ideas?

Here's the deal...take a good pair of visegrips and remove the bolt at the end, now thread a 16-18" threaded rod w/nut and secure it to the visegrip. Now add a 5 lb plate steel weight and add a washer/bouble nut at end...get the piont now...attached the visegrip to the hifax and ram the weight up to the washer and nut spray all area of hifax/rail with a silicone base spray...voila a perfect ram for pulling hifaxes off...good luck-mike I'll try and post pic's
 
when you put the new ones on, use some anti seize or waterproof grease. they will come off a lot easier in the future!
 
i would recomend pulling the front of the hy-fax through the window (front=near drive axle).....then rotate the track with a pry bar on the drive sprocket(s)....it will pull the hyfax off as the track is rotated......

fyi this is preferred method by a few yamaha techs i know.

if you want a good laugh, get the hyfax started in the window and start the sled....give it a handfull of throttle and watch the hyfax fly 100 feet behhind the sled.......it goes a long ways and can seriously injur anything in its way!!!!!!
 
Another way that I've always done is to get screwdriver under the edge of it and peel it over then use a second screwdriver and do the same thing working your way down the rail - kind of like taking a tire off a rim - clean and lube your rails good before you put the new ones on and next time they won't come off so hard
 
Bolin22's method works great, you can pull the belt and rotate the secondary buy hand and they will peel right off. It would be funny to see how far they would fly if you did use the happy trigger though.
 
You can also score the length of the hyfax with an extremely sharp utility knife. Then peel them off, but be careful to no scratch the rail. Just use a fine file for any gouges from cutting.

Once track tension is loose, turn sled on side and remove hyfax screw. Use hammer and screwdriver positioned in hyfax screw hole to drive off rail thru rear window in track. Once pushed out a foot or so, drop sled back onto track, lift rear end and clamp vise grip onto hyfax. Put feet onto track and pull hyfax out. Repeat other side. Clean rails with gas to remove dirt/grease. Use WD40 or other lube to spray onto new hyfax surface and slide back on with hands.

I just drill a hole in the end after you pull it through the window,then take a bolt hook onto it with vise grips etc;;tap it all the way out...always worked good for me.
