I am the original owner of a 1997 700 SX. My wife is now riding this sled and
I am on my 2004 Viper S. However it is too hard for her to pull start
So I am looking at adding electric start. I found and purchased a used
electric start kit from this site that came off a 1998 700 XTC.
I talked to a local family owned Dealer I trust about installation, and they
are telling me that in 1997 yamaha had problems with the 700s with electric
start breaking cases, and they made a change in 1998.
Can anyone tell me if this is true ? Should I be able to install the electric
start kit off the 1998 &00 XTC and work well and reliably on my 700 SX ?
Otherwise I am looking at selling it with 4500 miles, not sure what it is worth.
Thanks

the 97 had a single crank bearing when in 98 they put a bigger one in you can do it to your 97 just order the 98 pto bearing
