chain case/injector oils

If you use alot of Amsoil find a dealer and tell you want to be a preferred customer and get it dealer cost. If you spend more than a $100 a year it would be beneficial. I also really like there water resitant grease.

I like amsoil and all but do they tell you that you can go 18,000 miles without a oil change in your car?? Man i'm starting to worry about that I'm neglecting my vehicles after 5,000 miles. I know that there are some oil companies now stating they can go high mileage without oil change but I wouldn't do so, not for a couple of bucks. The reason I'm saying this is I just noticed my wifes car is due 1,000 miles ago and I won't be able to get to it until this weekend it has me worried sick ,man am I anal!!!!

I had a Camaro that I bought with 87,000 miles. I used Amzoil and changed oil once a year. I put on about 25,000 miles a year and I had it for about 8 years. The speedometer/odometer started working slower for a while and then quit several months before I sold the car. It showed 260-something thousand and I estimated it had 270,000 to 275,000 miles on it. The engine still ran fine and oil consumption was normal. The only thing done to the motor was a timing chain change.

I also run Ipone in my vmax 800 and SRV540 with no problems....and kinda like the smell!

?????????

Amsoil as well as many other "top shelf" oils will NOT void warrenty but rather far exceed the manufacters specifications for use.

I dont want to sound like I am pro anything, but some of these statements are simply not true and should not be posted in a forum looking for advice.

Amsoil, Klotz, Ipone, These are all very good oils and you can do no wrong by running any of them if you choose to do so.

this is fact amsoil is not iso-egd certified and yes makes a difference on warrinty. on certian manufactore i e ski doo needs to meet these certifications.amsoil says it meets or exceeds requirment but does not test for it.thats why it's not on container .you should do alittle reserch first before you discredit my statement for you are giving WRONG advice! :o|

I will not get into a pissing match here but I will say it once again, Amsoil will NOT void your warrenty. Use the interceptor for your powervalve sled and enjoy your winter!!

Call them yourself and dig deep into this if you wish

For several years Amsoil was making Ski-Doo oil. Then Ski-Doo decided to have it made from another manufacture to reduce costs.

how do you find out what certification these oils have??
Yamaha recomends a JASO FC certified oil, You will be fine with any of the quality brands listed above.

This debate as with most oil related questions has gotten way blown out of proportion. Buy what you are comfortable with and have a safe winter!!

again you make a statement with no nolage of what you speak of.ski- doo says it will void warrenty if failure if useing oil that is not iso-egd certified witch amsoil is NOT.if you have a copy of sept 06 snow tech mag look at page 11 on two stroke oils it shuold help you understand what i am saying.AMSOIL IS NOT CERTIFIED ISO-EGD PERIOD! you should not misinform some one with out the fact's just because that's wat you use or like. :o|

Ski-Doo probably made that certification up to sell there product. I know what I will be using (amsoil) and like others have said "use what you are comfortable with."

I found out the amsoil HP is not JASO-FC certified ONLY the Intercepter is. The difference in price at the local napa was $3 for the gallon so I swapped it. My sled is not a power valve sled though. The hp seems to be more marine use. I'm going to check back into Ipone only because it seems to be cheaper, but I hate the stupid smell of it and it's hard to get here. I agree that going with what your comfortable with is best.
For me I posted the question originally here because I like all the good input we all give/get on the site. I appreciate all anwsers!! I do agree with SX when he says to not post unless your sure of your statement. Just a fact of my own I have a skidoo XPS synthetic gallon at my house and according to the jug is not certified in anything but the jaso rating the amsoil interceptor is. I do not know anything past what is on the jug though. By the way the XPS smokes like crazy.. and stinks.. but the gallon was free last year so :dunno:

Thanks again guys!

i give up :o| amsoil is jasco certified not iso ski doo oil is both look at the jug.and yes i agree it stink's i was only trying to answer your post with fact's witch i did.klotz oil is both but you have non power valve sled so you can use a lot cheaper oil gitgo snow yamalube is resonable.the subject has been beat to death already . oh and no ski doo did'nt make up the certification i thought that was a joke good one ;)!

This is a Yamaha forum, had maxout asked about a Ski-Doo rating I would have respectfully bowed out and not responded since I would not know the correct answer. Nowhere in my statement did I say anything was or was not ISO rated, I simply responded to the question at hand.

TY I apologize for hyjacking this thread and turning it upside down.

I am done but I hope somehow this discussion has helped and not simply confused the issue.
