Is Yamaha ever going to come out with a 120cc sled? I know they had the Sno Scoots in the 80's, but it seems that Yamaha has given up on kids. I know kids can use the Bravo, but it's not a kids sled.
Anyone hear of Yamaha coming out with a 120cc sled in the near future?
Cheers.

I spoke with a Yamaha VP late last year and ask him if they were considering it. He said that they have no intentions of doing so due to the fact that it is a not a profitable market. It would take them around 5-7 years to recoop the R&D costs for that sled, which at that time they would need to retool and redisign, so they would never get out of the red on that product. He then stated that they will never completely rule it out though. They have other goals in mind in regard to sx racing, and refinement of current products and extending the Phazer concept to other models. Just what I was told.

That's too bad, ...guess I'll be going with the Polaris 120cc sled then. Oh well.

R&D costs?
they can uses a moped engine or something similar and the chassis on those things is a joke. just come out and say it...
... "we just don't feel like it"
Granted its a low profit segment, but it builds brand loyalty.
It made sense in the past to not have a 120 because there was nothing for the kid to move into, now that the phazer has been reborn, they sould do it.

Alot of times the first sled brand you ride is the one you buy when you get older. The first sled was a 1980 Yamaha 440 SS bored out with a clutch kit. The first one I rode was a 1972 Suzuki 250 but it was a little scary. The other manufactures have done the R and D. Put some Yamaha blue on it. Put a Robin 4 cycle in it and sell the damn thing. There is nothing to those things.
Would you really want your child on a sled with a yz125 in it? haha IT WOULD FLAT OUT RIP!!!! I would love to see it, and Yamaha already has the motor

Who wanted a 125cc in it? A Robin 4-cycle would be a little 8 horse side shaft motor.

Yamaha has not made a family/kid sled for a long time. I think they have put too much time and effort into the four-stroke sleds.

They should make one. They could have it designed in a day. OK, maybe a week. They'd "get their money back" from it I'm sure.
8 HP? Come on. Yamaha has plenty small engines from MX to put there own parts in one. More realistically, maybe like a 50-80cc.

A little 8 HP in a 100-120 lb sled will go pretty fast. Remember this a beginner sled that is governed at 8 mph from factory and will due 20-25 with minumal mods like a governor adjustment. You put a small child on a sled that goes 30 to 40 mph and they get hurt they may not want to ride anymore or get hurt real bad.
