Last season ended early for me becuase of a stud hitting the front heat exchanger, we drilled out all the rivets we can see and its moves loosly around, but it wont come out we when to the yamah dealer to talk to the mechanic and he clams you need a hole new bulk head becuase they come already inside? any one know for sure. sledin season is comin fast and i cant miss any more.

Never pulled one myself ------ but i think you need to pull the motor to get the front exchanger out.
Can you just weld the hole with the exchanger in place by removing the suspention and track???
JB-weld?????

Well theres one big hole and 2 smaller holes it probably could get welded buy a good welder but we were seeing if we could get it out so we could just bring in the exchanger insted of the sled... ill post some pics of it later when i get home

And i thought ied ask, cause i need a new track to can i fit a 1.5 inch paddle with no studds? ill settle with a 1.25 but i want a 1.5" becuase i wanna be able to get good traction with no studs.
Your thread from feb 24th is still out there - do a search - your pics are there too.

Been there done that
I have replaced a few but I have never even attempted it w/out removing the motor. Most likely when you push it back torward the rear of the sled it is hitting on the tunnel. Take a screwdriver and bend the sides of the heat exchanger inward so it doesn't get hung up then force it out rearward & then downward. Your dealer does not know what he is talking about.....which is not out of the norm. My advise regarding the repair is not to have it welded since you will already have it out. You should be able to find a used one with no trouble. I have one out of an SX that I would sell for $50 plus shipping. If you are interested just post photo's of yours after it is removed so I can be sure it is the same. If it's not a match someone else on here will have one.

Got the hoses unhooked off the back? Many times you also need a bottle jack or similar method of spreading the tunnel to get the exchanger out.
Aaahhhh I See!
OOOOOOO! A jack to spread the tunnel.....why did'nt I ever think of that! Good one haulic! Next time I guess.......hopefully there wont be one!

Same story for me on end of season. The bolts are a real pain. I hadn't planned to pull the motor but I couldn't get the second bolt so out it came. Actually much less hassle pulling the motor than moving the one bolt an 1/8th of a turn and the other bolt not at all! As you can see you can get a socket on it, but no room for a rachet. Try an open end wrench and there is no room to turn.
Save your self some time and knuckle ache and pull the motor, LOL!
Good luck!

pull that motor, takes only a few more hours and you can clean in there, change the tierod, adjust the play on the lower steering shaft, and install all the rivots correctly.
also, i have a heatexchanger for one of those, 110 shipped with guards, 85 without.

Yeah i went out there and was screwin around with it today tryin to figure a way to get the 2 bolts for the steering off, didnt work out, so i think im gonna end up pullin the motor i probably should becuase who knows whats down there and theres alota grease and dirt down there that maks me sick cause i keep it clean. now what im afraid of is me getting it all back together and running and having the piston issue that happens with the 97 600s ware the ring catches the exhuast port i dont have the money to do it right now. im just gonna hope it wont

and about the 1.5" track, yes it will fit in there but you have to remove tunnel and heat exchanger protectors or it will rub. Will fit with 9 tooth drivers though, had one on my srx. Awesome hookup, but a lot of slide wear and i couldn't run studs so i removed it and put in a 1" hacksaw.
