Is the head gasket mod able to be done on a 600 twin? Any jetting required?

Regarding handel bar risers, wht is the maximum hieght without changing cables?

What sled are you referring too?

Not sure about a 600 twin gasket mod, ...good question though. It's good for any SX600 motor (which includes the Venom motor), but they're triples. No jetting required on the SX600 motor, just need to run premium gas.

I think the longest handlebar riser without cable changes on a 600 is 4 inches.

boy i dont know about four inches on the riser i did a 2 inch block riser and the oil cable was streching and half way on when it turned the right way. I dont know what you want to i extended the cables and can use a 8 inche pivot riser if i wanted. id say extending the cables was worth it. not sure about the head gasket would like to know the same thing myself for my twin.
 
I have a 97 vmax 600 xtc, i have the bender thin head gasket kit, no jetting was needed. as of hander bar risers i got 6 inch piviot with a strait bar for like drag choppers on ebay, the handle bar risers are also for chopers, turned out really nice and looks awsome, even more confortable and there strong. you can see the pictures if you click my name and go to my home page.

Also i wouldnt go more then 6 inches the throtal cable was kinda tight but i just re-routed it and its perfect and more you would have to buy a throtal cable extention kit. everythiing els had lots of slake.

by the way the thin head gasket kit is worth it, it takes most of them low grunting it dose stock when you punch it form a stop or from a roling. i felt a big differnce, if you want more performance get vforce 3 reeds that really wakes it up

Yep , agree , the kit makes the twin the way it should be !! Did it to my '98 sx 600 , much better sled .
 
If I remember right on the 97 600 XTC that I had you drill the rivets out a just use the top and bottom gasket and remove the rest. That is the way the Hauck power up kit was. Carbon fiber reeds, reed spacers, and two thin pieces of the head gasket. I think stock is .8mm thick and thiner setup was .6mm. It has been awhile so I might be a little off on the mm thickness.

Blkmax- The 94'-95' vmax 600's came stock with the .6mm head gasket, 96'-on up came with the 1.4mm head gasket. I think the mountain max's had the .8mm gasket. Maxximum perf. used to sell "performance kits" for the 600 twins with either the .6 or the.8 (91 or 87octane)head gasket-along with clutching. Sold many kits when I worked at my local dealership-kinda woke em' up a little....If I remember correctly some newer 600 twins (97'-98' )barely had 100 psi compression in each cylinder with the stock 1.4mm head gasket!!!!!!!and they were NEW! or they only had 1000-2000 miles on them. I remember some perf. shops either putting thinner head gaskets in them or down jetting them to get the 600 twins to run better. Remember when the 600 SX's ruled the grass drags from 97'-99' ??? ALL YAMAHA FINALS-with 600 twins!!! There is potential in them thar motors man!!
 
Thanks to all for the input.

Next week I am installing new a new top end, I will be removing the center layer of the head gasket, I also plan on doing the reed notch as per the tech pages.

I installed a 1.25 ripsaw track this summer with a set of adjustable transfer rods. Man I can't wait untill snow flies!!!!

For reference, I have a 95 600 twin and the psi is about 130-135 per cylinder, motor has never been opened up so the stock gasket must be a .6 or .8

Also running GYT twins on it, but that shouldnt affect the compression, but they really woke the motor up some.
