Clutch tool
You definately need some kind of specialty tool to remove it, whether be bought or home-made. They are pricey to buy though...about $250/US (I think). I usually just bring my clutch down to my local dealer and they pop it loose for $20. I think they use some 2 piece tool (one piece goes on the clutch, one gets bolted to a bench or the wall) manufactured by Comet called a Grunt(?) tool. I do the adjustments I want to do or cleaning, then I bolt it back together. As far as putting it back together, I cut a 2' x 2' peice of MDF board & drilled holes to line up with 4 of the bolt holes on the back side of the fived sheave. I hand tighten the fixed sheave then I bolt it to the board, with 4 bolts. Then I bolt the board to the work bench. Then I use my clutch holder (tool that looks like a question mark) to tighten. Maybe someone else can chime in with a better way?

You need a primary grunt tool. You gotta heat the clutch up & the threads are backwards. Right to loosen & left to tighten
