I've seen these vents from one source or another and wondered if anyone that installed them actually saw any benefit.I was thinking of putting one on the clutch side to vent the hot air out or direct cool air in,not sure which would be better ( snow injestion and all ).It seems to be a logical mod to make keep the belt and clutches cooler but why have I not seen more pics of people doing it?

what kind of vents are you talking about? are you talking about the small puck vents from slp or the larger vents that people are putting on the ski doos and polaris'?

I thought this was a concern with the POO's. I wouldn't bother, I don't think you'll gain anything. Yamaha does a good job with under hood temps and ventillation.

what about if he took that chrome vent and Flipped it the other way. Then the hot Temps can escape alot faster and yet snow would not be able to Get in there.

with the protection of Some how putting a something behind it just incase snow does get in there it wont be a problem

I second the "really not needed on a Yamaha" idea.

If it is setup right there is nothing over on the left side that makes much heat that is not already vented either up thru the hoo dor out back next to your left knee.

Your clutches should not be hot and they really don't do well when wet.

true it shouldn't be needed, but cooler temps are always nice around friction components. you could flip the vent, but it still will get snow in it. on higher horsepower sleds i think the venting is a good idea, but not stockers so much.

A couple of flow-rites behind the shock on the belt side is a pretty common mod on mountain sleds to help with clutch/belt temps. I have not done it on mine but have a buddy that has them on his poo, seems to work really well. Also, taking the windage plate off the secondary will help tremendously if so equipped. A good clutch set-up with proper belt alignment will go a long way....

The vent that I thought about using was the SLP one as it's smaller than the chrome one in the pic.I intended to mount it facing away so as to draw the heat out,I was also concerened about snow getting on the belt if it was mounted to direct air in.I wonder if a piece of powder pre filter material used on mountain sleds put behind the vent would keep snow out?Something to think about.

ps;The reason I'm concidering adding one of these as the heelclickers I'm using on my SRX seem to be running hotter than normal or stock and yes my center to center is on as well as the offset.I may just see how it goes this year and try to fine tune my setup before I go cutting the side up to add a vent.

If your belt is hot than you have a clutch problem, not a vent problem. Will not help resale value, will run up a red flag that there is a clutch problem with any buyers who are familier with Yamahas.
