Hi,

I know this has been asked maybe many times, but what is the head volume of -98 SRX. Not just head volume, but total volume when piston is TDC

Reimond

that would depend on the deck clearance of the engine, its pretty easy to check with a cc buret, just fill it with liquid to the bottom of the sparkplug hole with piston at TDC and check the amount you used to fill the hole.

This is part of my problem. I don't have stock heads. I have MegaPower heads with stock bore and i need to mod those to fit my 73.9 bore. Motor is ported and i'm looking around 20cc volume. Does this sound ok?

I measured volume and it was now 19cc. I will set squish to .05 but what you propose for angle? I will run premium gas.

well stock srx heads are 26cc from 98-99 and the 2000-02 heads are 25cc on average. If your gonna run 19cc domes and then put it on a 73.9cc big bore your gonna have alot of cranking compression and not in the pumpgas range, simply from the bore of the piston under the small 19cc dome. it would be ok if say you were riding at 8-12,000ft elevation, but not at 0-2000ft if that where you are in elevation???

Take the dome and put it in a lathe, set up your your bore clearance in the face of it, just flat cut it for now(73.9mm). Put it in the shell and bolt it on the motor, check your squish with lead solder on the sides of the piston on top of wrist pin, be sure you can feel the sides of the bore with the solder before crushing it with piston and mic the smashed solder, see where you are. Then remove dome insert and place it back in the lathe, you can recut the squish clearance to what ever you want and maybe steepen the angle to help you out, but you will need to supply me with some numbers to work with in order to help you.

Sorry, I though stock will be around 23cc. If it is 26cc i'm looking around 23cc. I need to make some new measurements.
