ohlins front shock extensions or flip mounts??

how should i go about rising the ride hight on the front of my 99 srx 700? what are the pro's and con's of both methods?how much extra belly pan ground clearace can i expect from each method? sorry for so many ??. but i am going to long travel the rear and just wondering the best and most cost effective method to get the front a little higher. thanks again guys. this site rules!!!also anybody have some pics of their long travelled SRX?
 
I have them both done on my srx. Right now the top of my front bumper is at 18 1/2" Not sure what it is stock, but it is quite a bit higher than stock.

Not sure how it handles with the mounts flipped as i just did that. I am running an Expert X in the rear. With the extensions i didnt notice any difference in the front end, besides it didnt rail my bumper into the ground as much.
 
I flipped and rotated (lft to rt) the stock brackets.
raised the front end about 1"

you need to grind some of the bulkhead sheet metal and bracket flanges themselves to clear the shock. and add a few washers to set the proper angle, but free....

or just get the designed brackets.


I found the handling was affected more by the rear suspension's FRA setting after long traveling the rear. tippy at the firm setting, and corners on rails at the soft setting

I am awaiting the mounts from the guy on ebay for my ohlins beacuse the ones from hauck will not work with ohlins wich I found out the hard way. Funny no one has run into them not working with ohlins.

They hit the shock body at the top? Guessing this because this is why you need to grind the stock bracket....
 
exactly, but hauck had never heard of the problem before. The top of the shock body is was thicker due to having the piggy backs. I maybe could have gotten the hauck ones to work with a lot of grinding but even so I would have only been able to use one of the adjustment holes. That really was not worth my time to me. The ebay ones should work with the ohlins without any mods.I did however try the hauck ones with a stock set of shocks and no problems at all, and the nice thing about them u have 3 holes to make adjustments. I wish I could have used them.
