'98 srx with carbs that need to be cleaned, cant get the fuel bowl screws out, really tough. any suggestions? also are these screws available at the hardware store? yamaha wants $2.00 a screw... have many that need replacing once they come off.. thanks
 
If you can get a small pair of visegrips on them they should come out. I got some allen head screws at the hardware to replace them.
 
yes they can be a handfull... i had the same problem with my 99 srx, i used a "dremel" a small grinder, and grind the heads so they will fit a "straight" head screwdriver then they come off without problems.. i bought new from yamaha and carefully tihgtend them so i dont have this trouble again..

I don't know were tou are but Lowes has the allen head bolts, and they are like 18cents a piece. Put a little never seize on them, and crank them tight. This part is from memory so it is probably wrong, but I think they are 4mm. Maxdlx
 
I agree with all. Allen head bolts are the way to go. Used them on my MM and never have a problem taking them off. Keep an allen head wrench in your sled's tool kit too.
 
If you really want to get fancy use stainless, as the regular socket head cap screws will rust because they are not coated to protect them from rusting. T
 
we put stainless and aluminum together all the time in boats. the important part is to isolate the two with tef-gel or something like that. when you add salt water to equation like i do you need to worry about dissimilar metals and coat them.
