I was wondering is it a must to have heated grips? My SX 600 has them & I did not use them last year, My SX 700 "HAD" hot grips untill last night when I found out they did not work & had to slice them off! So with the hand guards & good gloves is a person OK? Plus I know the 97's has a lower output stator! Thanks! Dan

Sometimes they're on and sometimes off. All depends on the temp., but would not go without them just in case.

Ill tell you if you do not have a good windshield, put them on. I got my bars raised on my srx and my warmers quit working because they came unplugged once last year. Lets just say i couldnt feel my fingers for a week, and i had to stop a few times to let them warm up. I also have handgaurds but i dont think they do anything. And i also have good gloves.

put them on!

Can someone suggest a brand? The hot grips that were on my sled I was not impressed with but maybe they are top of the line! I do not know! Thank you!

I love my heated grips... Allot of times we go riding and fishing at -30 and if your hands do start to get cold they are a great way to heat them up!!!! I just bought a new set from my dealer they are OEM Yamaha ( they work great ) but I am sure Hot Grips probably makes them LOL !!!! The only reason for buying new ones is because I busted my handle bars and the grips were not going to come off..

Meh, i ditched my heated grips. Took Them off, Or Unhooked. I got new bars and i wanted the *Clean* look without all the messy wires... i think i may have the left side of cluster gauges IF anyone is intrested. Its got the Choke Sawed off tho hahaha!

It depends on your riding style and how aggressive your are. If you ride trails and are non-aggressive so you can wear big thick gloves you will most likely be ok. If you play in the powder, ride hard and get stuck they are a must. My grips are turned off for most the day unless it is really deep and lots of digging. After a long day when heading to the trailer there is nothing lke toasty hands. If you got heated grips and don't need them, no problem. If you don't have them and need them it really sucks and is not safe. I carry 1 light and 2 heavy pairs gloves and even change before digging, but still end up sometimes with all pairs wet at end really great day of powder.

A couple years ago in Curtis it was about 20 degree F when we got there. The next day it was -45 degrees F and it was cold with the heated grips. I would definately have them. There is times I have to turn them off. But almost every ride I use them at some point. If you have gauntlets mounted on your bars you would not need them.
