I looked at a '79 SRX with 8J000 stamped (not factory) in the heads. Any significance to this?

YA, LOTS OF SIGNIFICANCE!!!! THAT 1979 SRX HAS CORRECT HEADS ON IT, WHERE YA GET NOT FACTORY FROM !!! THOSE ARE CORRECT HEADS. THOSE HEADS WERE USED ON 79/80 SRX. 8G9 HEADS WERE USED ON 78 SRX. MATTER OF FACT MODEL PREFIX FOR 1979 SRX IS 8J0. DUDE, CHECK NUMBERS ON YOUR HEADS, NOT REALLY A BIG DEAL. 3:16 (tony)

my 79 was also stamped in top of heads with punch dies, it was bought new like that.
Also, offended?? not hardly. I offered you a rear secondary with stock helix, extra optional helix, and a new spring for $50 if you dont want it no big deal. there was only 2 helix available for that secondary, the one they came with and the optional one. I doubt you can even buy them anymore, but you could check at your dealer, I could be wrong. willing to guess the helix and spring will be more then $50. Good Luck with your project.

Yep, like you said mrviper700, it's punched, but very crudely! My secondary is fine shape, but I'll take the spring and helix. Has it got a steeper angle for strictly grass dragging, and do you want to sell the other items you mentioned? (manual, clutching, gearing, jetting specs and pics)
