Precision skis on a Viper

Anyone running a set of Precision skis on a Viper? Is it necessary to buy the Yamaha mounts or is there a way around it? I know they are poor in loose snow, but how are they on a Viper?? I'm thinking about upgrading the skis on the ZX and that would give me a spare pair of Precisions.
 
zx mounts will bolt right up on the proaction chassis with a spacer or two (washers). i ran precisions on the srx, and viper. get some shaper bars and put a heck of alot of pressure on the skis, with front springs and limter strap cause, they will push when driven hard. they wont dart, but they dont turn that well on a loose trail cause they "float" when loose or fresh snow gets under them. ski
 
Appreciate the help. I'm not crazy about how they behave in loose snow, but I'll trade that off to get rid of the darting. And since I have them, they're cheap too. I'm extending the Viper to 136 with a 1.5 Intense. Can I make them enough of a ski, or will they just not be up to the task.
 
Stock skiis. I've done the shim "thing", less darting, but they're still lousy skiis. I find that they don't handle well in the corners.
 
i didnt like the precisions on a hard packed trail with fresh fluff on top. it was flat out dangerous. i had my limters pulled up tight too. but deep snow and of course watercrossing they were the shiznight!

i like the usi project X, and the new yamaha mountain ski alot more. although the mountain ski does push alittle as well, but nowhere near what the precisions did. but again, i believe the precision and mountain yamaha ski would benefit from a shaper type bar for better turning. ski

look at it this way, try them, they dont cost you anything, you might like them and or find a better set up than I.

I have found the Yamaha mountain ski with Studboy shaper bars to be an excellent combination as Ski suggests.
 
they are wicked expensive, but the vx 301 ski's on my rx1 didn't dart at all and the sled was razor sharp in the corners. Sold that sled with the ski's. I have the snow tracker product on bth my srx's........absolutely no darting.....but sleds do push at bit but is goes straight in any condition.
 
What other skiis can I buy USI?, C&A's?, that are a good all around ski that doesn't dart? I'm looking for something that wouldn't be too aggressive for my wife as well.
