Let us know how it works out. I just bought the Dupli color 1200 degree red colored paint with ceramic, which is a first for me. Not sure how it'll work out...we'll see.

Start it up and let it heat to operating temp on a jackstand 3-4 times and let it cool completely in between. On your first ride shut it down after the First W.O.T. run and let it cool. This works for me !

my brother painted his pipe in high temp aluminum it looks pretty good it is rated at 1200 degrees . i think it will hold up ;)!

Hi Temp Paint

I have used the 1200 degrees before on my pipes and wood stove with no success. My roomate and i have this same 1500 degrees paint he has done his pipes( but have not tested) I did my wood stove about a month ago and i noticed right away on the wood stove how much better this paint is. it is holding up really good. I painted the Kids enticer exhaust and have ran it in total about 20 minutes and it is holding way better that 1200.
Benson Auto parts carries this paint.

yup as BenderSRX said this 1500 degree paint is light years better than any 1200 degree paint, really holds up well on these exhausts. Your exhausts get hotter than 1200 degrees, and it shows in how long 1200 degree paint lasts on them

I used the 1500 degree paint on my Aaens pipes last year......works great. After 1400 miles they still look great. I highly recommend it.

It always sucks when you learn you just wasted your money. I may return the 1200 Dulpli color and get this 1500 degree stuff. I don't know? I used 500 degree black last year and it help up pretty good, I assumed the 1200 would be more then enough. Is there any truth to with the triple pipes they should be a little cooler then the 2into 1 or 3 into one scenarios?

Dave so your saying you used 1,200Dregree paint? Ouch, Can you find the same color and re-do it with 1,500?

yeah it was dupli color crap.....i used a base ,then cherry red, then ceramic coat. i ran the sled to harden the paint 3 or 4 times. first ride on the lakes destroyed the paint...smoke everywhere i was so pissed. that pipe is brand new too!

Dave - I know when it comes to stuff like this the weakest link will mess it ALL up. Was the cherry red and base coat safe to 1200? It may have had better results with the ceramic first then base and then cherry. I mean the 500 degree stuff I used last year didn't burn off as bad as your red. I'm pretty sure that the high temp paints need to be directly applied. Do you think there is any validity to my theory?

We use and sell PJ1 here too. I just blasted and painted up a set of aaens here and they look great. PJ1 has held up great for us in the past aswell. We also have used VHT Flame Proof paint and that holds up too.

Question: Please forgive my ignorance, but then do I then need hi-temp primer as well?

I want to repaint an ehaust pipe after sanding to bare metal.

Thanks.
