Compression bleed down

What you need is a cylinder leak down tester, they have 2 gauges on them, one shows the pressure you put into the cylinder (usually 100psi, via air compressor) the other shows the pressure that is held by the cylinder. Anything over 90% is fine below 80% is time to look into a set of rings, headgasket or whatever may cause a leak. The cylinder must be at top dead center or it will just turn the engine over with the pressure you add, be careful, if it is off slightly the crank can move suddenly, and it won't stop for fingers or whatever else is in the way. Testers can be found at some but not all tool stores, Snap-on and mac are top quality but go for as much as $300.

or another option is too simply take your sled to any reputable motorcycle repair shop and drop them $50-60 bucks to run a quick test on it for you, then ya dont have the expense of buying a tool you wont use but a couple times.

hey ski, I love that tag line about walking in ones shoes!!!!LOL!!

What is a acceptable amount of compression bleed down if you start at 130 pounds. 10#'s in one minute, 20, 30? :dunno:

you don't want anymore than 10% LD,

so if you pump in 100psi you wan't it to atleast hold 90psi..
