My wife is talking of getting a new sled for her next year and I am trying to figure what our best options are. She is relatively inexperienced and somewhat timid when it comes to riding. Brand is not real important since all the manufactures how a nice product nowadays. I would prefer to stick with Yamaha. We go back over 25 years. I was thinking a Vector GT or another Yamaha model, A/C F6 or Z1 with the infinite rider position or Polaris 600 HO IQ LX CFI or a SKI-DOO GSX. Give me your opinions. Should I do a poll?

With a 25 year history with Yamaha....thats were I would stay. You know the product and its durability.
Take your wife to your dealer and let her sit on the different models and get a feel for the riding positions and ergonomics. Let her decide what she feels comfortable on. Help her when it comes to which sled would suit her riding style as in....if she likes the Vector....then maybe the GT's shock package would be best for her if she likes to just cruise on the groomed trails
If ride quality is a concern I would direct her towards a model with a 136" track to help smooth out rough trails.

I can get a 0 mile 05 for 6500 with a warranty. Why only 2 miles on it. 8 runs down the quarter mile or 16 runs down the 1/8

Make sure it has reverse and electric start. Never meet a female yet that did not love those features. Good skis likes Simmons so the sled does not dart is a good Idea. Yamaha does have the best hand warmers also.

Honestly - I'd find her a Venom. Or maybe a Viper S. Not a new Phazer - I'm thinking they would be too cold. And 85 - 100 lbs of a 4 stroke is exactly that.

I will definately make sure it has electric start and reverse. I hate when I have to get off my sled and unhook my heated sheild and stuff because she can't pull it over. She has been riding 4 wheelers a few years and I think a Phazer would be a natural transistion. Not sure on how they will be on 150-200 mile ride though. Are there any plans of integrating a GPS into the display? That would be very nice. Honda does it on some of there ATV's

If it has to be new it is going to be a yamaha (was there ever a doubt!), and its gotta be lite, have electric start and reverse and cant be cold or anything, so thats got Phazer GT written all over it. The Vector is a really nice sled and would be my second choice cuz it has the extra power to munch through slush, but it is heavier than the phazer no doubt, and although it is still an awsome chassis, it is the oldest out of yamaha's fourstroke lineup.
This potentially sounds bad, but I dont mean it in this way, but the few girls who have sleds and have went for a little ride with me tend to get stuck alot, lets say if they cant turn the bars on the sled on a turn and cant make the turn (this happened going very slow, icy hard snow conditions were the cause) and got stuck offtrail. Also happened again on a straight stretch when the grand toruing 583 was darting so bad due to the trail conditions that it veered off the trail, but lukily was not even doing 40km/h. But accidents happen to anyone, and youd be glad to have a lighter sled to pull out or easier sled to pull out if this does occur.

From what I have been reading the new Phazers will do 90-95 MPH. I also read they will do low 13's in a quarter mile so power should be just fine. The dealership I will purchase from has a new 2005 Venom ER for $5599. I myself am leaning towards the new Phazer. I will make sure is has the Mid-Height windy and wind deflectors by the knee. We also dress accordingly to the weather. I wonder how a child would fit on there with me. I do not care for the 2-up I think.

How does she drive a car? Is she an aggressive driver in a car at all? If not I would go with the Vector GT instead of the Phazer. The Phazer rides more like a dirt bike than a 4 wheeler in my opinion. It is an incredible chassis make no mistake, but you really know you are riding something. If she simply likes to cruise then the Vector is a better choice. The only time you notice the weight is if you try to lift it for some reason.
If she tends to be agressive then the Phazer is a great choice.

I need to hit a demo days and let her ride one. If I buy it and she don't like then I get a new sled.
Now there is a plan . . .
Apex RTX all the way man !!!
