Need help "please help" SXR500

i have a 2001 SXR 500 and i had it out for a ride tonight and the lights are very dim even in the gauges and my tach dont work and my hand warmers dont either

also, she is really boggy on bottom end then cuts in and pulls good
what can i do to get a arm pull start? or raise the skis?

Sure sounds like an electrical issue. Something is wrong if these are your symptoms. The Bogging may also be related to this.

the SXR is a 2001 and i just bought it a few days ago and it was like that when i bought it i thought it was just a dull buld but its not

i mean how can i get alot of bottom end, takeoff pull, g forces , i needs a good holeshot

Well looking past the "possible electrical issue" which maybe causing it to run poorly.

Looks like the something in the lighting circuit is going bad. Since it is a balanced system one bad part can have an effect on another.

First, you have a 500. It makes about 85 horse power. It is just a lack of torque down low that is effecting the "Arm Pull Start" that you are refering to. Even my 600 is good but compared to my Fathers 700 Viper it does not come close.

Second, the Proaction suspension is not known for pulling the ski's off the ground. The weight transfer needed to pull that off is something that in stock form the Proaction rear skid will not allow. Basically the "Coupled" type parallelogram shape will not allow a front raise/rear squat. This is good as you want as much track on the ground as possible.

There are aftermarket parts that allow for you to tune the "transfer" though I think it is fine the way it is. Since you just purchased it you might want to go thru everything under the hood. I did a 99 SX500 that was really quite peppy after I was done. It is amazing what the correct new parts can help on a used sled.

for better take off put vmaxjhons set up on from the tec pages. it rocks in the trails. also you should consider a gear and chain swap for more top end. the 500's that get 90mph have a 22tooth top gear with a 70link chain. the 2000-01 sxr500 had a 21tooth top gear with a 68link chain whitch stops pulling at 80mph. this will also help it get better fuel milage as well.
