Does anyone know anything about the RZ 350??? Supposedly they were produced between 83' and 86' and were fitted with electronically controlled power valves run off a servo, shockingly similar to the Viper and SRX's. Yamaha called the system YPVS and it was stamped on the heads. Anyone have any info on these lil' screamers? They were never put in Banshee's but the motor was the base of the present YFZ 350 motor, but I was told you can swap out the top ends?!?! They made 16 more HP!!!!!!!!! HELP!!

thye did carry the ypvs like the viper/srx. they are a screaming engine, my buddy had one and the thing was good for a little over 200km/h. thats pretty good considering its only a 350.

I had a 1992 Yamaha WR200 2 Stroke Enduro that had a Electronically Controlled PV. And I kick myself in the a** for selling it cause it was alot faster through the tight trails than my 2000 CR250 and now thats the set-up Honda uses on there Newer CR125s and CR250s.

i have 2 they rip, mines ported polished dg pipes, dual stage reeds. does 12.3 on the quarter, better times to come. engine is basicly the same as banshee, cylinders bolt right up but you need mag and all other electrical parts. the second one is waiting for a transplant into a banshee once i get one.

Hey XT
Was the RZ oil injected or premix? Do you know if the crank and cases are the same or just similar in design?
So I would need both cyls., the head, servo and the wiring harness and the mag? On ebay people think these things are worth their weight in gold or something so it looks like it's gonna be harder than it sounds to round up parts. I wonder why Yamaha opted not to power valve the Banshee. It looks like the RZ had bolt on flanges for the exhaust vs. the lip on the banshee. thanks for the replies

I believe the cranks are the same, RZ internals are different but interchangable, the gear ratios are different but the shift drum and forks from an RZ work great in a Banshee, I'm looking for a set if anybody knows of any for sale.
As far as the conversion goes you basically just need the jugs, servo motor and wiring harness, most guys build their own harness. The only problem that I know of is clearance between the pipes and the powervalves, you have to dent most aftermarket pipes to make them clear unless you go with a set of PT's.
It is a good mod but realistically it is easier to build the Banshee motor as is to what you want. A good port job will put you past a stock RZ motor.
