ok, so I want to raise my engagment up 1-2 hundred rpm, dont remember how much i havent ran it since last year, & i would like to drop my rpm at WOT 300 rpms. so am i able to get a spring that will only change my engagment and jump up to the next size rivit in the outer holes to lower the max rpm? I dont remember what exactly i have in there right now, but it's somewhere along the lines of vmax john's setup. 47/41, 8abs, dont remember what spring im running or how much weight... its a 97 vmax 500 xtc

DO you have any engagement shims in there now. If you are only looking at 100 or 200 rpm more add a couple if shims. As fas as over rev adding tip weight will reduce WOT RPM.

Are you overreving on top; mid or down low? Gotta know what primary spring your running in it now.

Im already running 2 shims. Overrev is on topend. I'll have to check what spring im running, problem is the sled isnt home yet to check...

If you add too many shims you can get coil binding & your rpm,s won,t ever come down no matter how much weight u throw at it. Problem is your running a short cover primary cover & your limited on spring choice. You can get just a tall cover & then use the tall cover springs that have about double the selection. Anyway; get the tall style cover(8df) . Aw-w-w primary spring will get your engagement a lot higher & adding some tip weight should get ya good to go.

ok, thanks for the info, what sleds do those covers come on stock, or where and how much are they to buy? and will that spring change anything other than engagement?

just get a clutch cover from any 2000 or newer triple and it will be a deep pocket 8DF style.
