I've been looking at some old school srx's and then I found Koch's Performance website and I think I have been bitten by the bug. I probably will be buying a 77 or 78 srx 440 within the year after I graduate college. This is gonna rock!!

Not to diss anyone here, but the vintage content is small. Check out vintagesleds.com
Leon has some nice SRX's and GPX's dont he..... Good luck finding an affordable 77 if your just out of collage.
go fast, turn left...keepin the vintage yamis alive

I bought Leon's show 77 srx. $7000. Not cheap, but couldn't find a better 10. These sleds are going crazy. The 78 SSR's are even worst. I've been drag racing for over 35 years. I got my first win back in 1971 on a A/C lynx chassis with a RX 440 SACHS free air motor in it. Just another light weight rocket ship. Beat up on all the other sleds back then. Well now I'm collecting race sleds and have one 77 srx set up for the vintage drags. If you think buying theses sleds are a lot of money, just try building a prostocker now days. It'll cost you a lot more. Atleast $15,000. Dean-o

I've been workin full-time through school, doing the construction thing. Im not thinking of going out and getting a mint cond. sled right away. ive seen these sleds way out of my price range when they are or close to mint. i would love to build one for hillcross which is a lil out of the ordinary. ive been reading on the rules for the class and they are as follows:
VINTAGE CLASS - CAN BE ANY SLED THAT HAS A LEAF SPRING FRONT SUSPENSION. ALL PARTS AND COMPONENTS MUST BE STOCK FOR THAT MODEL AND YEAR. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING; TRACK, SUSPENSION-FRONT AND REAR, HOOD, SKIS, SEAT, DRIVE TRAIN AND CARBEURATORS. THE ONLY COMPONENTS THAT MAY BE MODIFIED ARE THE INTERNAL PARTS OF THE MOTOR AND THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. ALL METAL SKIS IN THE VINTAGE CLASS MUST HAVE 1 INCH FOAN ON THE SKI LOOP OR HANDLE. VINTAGE SLEDS MAY ALSO USE 96 CARBIDE TIPPED STUDS WITH A MAXIMUM 3/8 INCH ABOVE THE NEAREST CLIP OR BAR.
Just hoping that it will be fun and a good foot-in-the-door to vintage racing.
