I've been workin full-time through school, doing the construction thing. Im not thinking of going out and getting a mint cond. sled right away. ive seen these sleds way out of my price range when they are or close to mint. i would love to build one for hillcross which is a lil out of the ordinary. ive been reading on the rules for the class and they are as follows:
VINTAGE CLASS - CAN BE ANY SLED THAT HAS A LEAF SPRING FRONT SUSPENSION. ALL PARTS AND COMPONENTS MUST BE STOCK FOR THAT MODEL AND YEAR. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING; TRACK, SUSPENSION-FRONT AND REAR, HOOD, SKIS, SEAT, DRIVE TRAIN AND CARBEURATORS. THE ONLY COMPONENTS THAT MAY BE MODIFIED ARE THE INTERNAL PARTS OF THE MOTOR AND THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. ALL METAL SKIS IN THE VINTAGE CLASS MUST HAVE 1 INCH FOAN ON THE SKI LOOP OR HANDLE. VINTAGE SLEDS MAY ALSO USE 96 CARBIDE TIPPED STUDS WITH A MAXIMUM 3/8 INCH ABOVE THE NEAREST CLIP OR BAR.
Just hoping that it will be fun and a good foot-in-the-door to vintage racing.
