bought a set of long travel rear shocks for my srx from a "TY" member and we are having some trouble with "USPS" regarding shipping . seller was told the shocks had to be drained of oil and gas to ship. does this sound correct. if so , how much does it cost to have them re-charged and is it possible to do yourself? i do not know of anybody who does this work here in Newfoundland.thanks.

i just shipped my shock to the USA to a member with no problems
they are thinking the gas is gas not nitrogen. I shipped some air mail to canada, just didn't say anything.

i didnt tell them they had gas. i said they were shocks and they were like do they ahve oil in them and i was like yea some but they are permently sealed it cant come out. and then they said theyed have to check. brought out all these books and looked threw them and then told me to chech back monday, which was yesterday so i did and they said they havent recived an answer from the main office,. so i gotta call them back today. i ran in to a broblem like this trying to ship my paintball gun that they delivered to me. i got it threw the mail but they wouldnt ship it out. said it was concided a weapon which it wasnt. i even found the laws on what a weapon was and printed it up and brought it too them and they still wouldnt.

shipping across boarder
Seca,
I have to ship stuff into and out of Canada on a regular basis for work.
Canada has its DSL (dangerous substance list) and the U.S. has their CS (controlled substances) list which cause problems when trying to get anything across the boarder that has a gas or liquid in it.
Best thing to do is to package the shocks up and then take the package in and ship it with the contents listed as machine parts. DON’T mention anything about gases or liquids. If they ask what you are shipping, tell them rebound and dampener devices. If they ask you how they work tell them they use springs.
