alright guys i know this has been talked about many times before but I put my stock gears/chain back in and I only have alittle over 1/2 inch of thread left on the tensioner. So that means the chain is making a sharp bend. Does this hurt performance any??whereas if the chain was straighter it wouldnt have the stress of the tensioner on it...just wondering if I should get a new chain..thanks

Yes you are correct the straight the chain can run the more efficient it is. If it doesn't have to bend as tight around gears, it is more efficient, thus: bigger gears are more efficient than smaller ones. Same goes with the tensioner, if it doesn't have to bend as tight it is more efficient, because when the chain is bent some of the driveline energy is lost as heat through friction. The less you bend the chain, the more efficient the chaincase is.

alright, i'll prob end up getting a new chain just to know that its running efficient...I wonder if it would make a diffrence in times when running speed runs?

it is all about rolling resistance...As montioned above the less bend on the chain the more eficient it is. The easier the motor spin the track the faster the sled....will it make time difference ya it probably will. It all comes down to what you want out of your sled.
