Jerky Crank Rotation

I was just inspecting the clutch on my Viper when I noticed it was kind of jerky when i rotated it. I pulled the plugs and could feel it for the full crank rotation. Is this the flywheel passing over the stator magnets or crank bearings. There is no side play in the crank, the plugs are all the same color and the sled runs fine.
 
If i understand correctly..you removed the belt and plugs and were spinning the clutch. If that is the case and as you rotate a bit there is a jerking feeling, rotate a little more jerking and so on this is the ok...you are still creating some compression while the pistons are moving up and down.
If that is the jerking you are talking about.

Jerkiness, hum. hum. Well I'm taking a stab here, I would say its just ring drag air transfer giving some resistance but across several pistons and at different intervals. I have my engine as we speak on the bench and I just rotated it, no plugs exhaust W or reeds on sort of does it to…How was your compression…If in doubt pull your W exhaust manifold off and take a good look inside. As you rotate the crank you will know if there is something going on…If nothing looks funny than check end play on the crank, there should be no movement…still in doubt, pull carb rack off then reeds out and take a look inside…If compression was good and their might be a crank issue or bearing failure. Pieces of bearings have a way of making it’s way up into the exhaust can, remove and shake out over a white bed sheet and see what comes out…I know not much help…Good luck.
 
Thanks for the reply. No, For about every inch of rotation I feel a slight jerk or notchy feel as the crank rotates. Its constant and the spacing is the same for 360 degrees of rotation. Its very hard to notice with the plugs in but if you remove them and place your fingers on the clutch face its easy to notice. There is no grinding or clicking noise.
