what pipes for my viper

IMO you will not be able to clutch the sled properly to run with/without the pipes. Powerband will be too much different to have it both ways. Just curious, you were looking for an SRX earlier, why did you buy a Viper, to turn around and tripple pipe it? Gonna lose reliability and gas mileage. :dunno: Not trying to start any crap, just don't understand people that want a 145HP sled, but buy a 120 and sink a ton of money into it. It is ok IF you know how to tune/jet/clutch a sled, including readng piston wash, plugs and how to set up clutching. The upside is having something that everyone else does not. But I can't count how many people I know that don't have those skills, and got into a project similar to this, and ended up hating there sled due to lack of rideability/dependability. Not trying to turn you off it, just go into into it with your eyes wide open and do your homework.

yeah i didnt think i could clutch both ways but looking to maybe add a helix now.

I do alot of sheet metal work at work so im not scared off, just looks sounds fun. Ive got a aircraft hanger full of tools and a aircraft certified welder (my Boss) and just about every metal working tool available.

I wasnt really looking for an srx, just asking questions for a friend i was actually leaning towards a f7, but got bit by the viper and fell in love.

I think most that buy the viper prefer the styling over the srx and would rather spend the cash to have something they want then to settle for something.

So far im planning on going with jaws pipes and removeing the stingers then taking my stock can and weld a plate to the top of it, then make 3 conectors going from my stock can to the jaws pipes. The police are really strick where i live, Ive seen this done on a f7 with twin pipes and D&D actually sells the kit.

It may not be possible but im gona give it a try.


also for the clutch kit, what kit should i get, what whieghts, springs and helix. I will be doing alot of trail riding, and field riding with the ocasion al lake.

Im looking for a kit that i can run with and without the pipes if thats possible.

By doing the mod to the stock can you might just loose some hp.
With Tripple pipes you will see a difference on top end and not much of a difference on the take off and mid range.
Im just trying to be a friend but if you plan on pipeing your viper and ridding in Quebec theirs a very good chance that you will get fine.
Quebec now has a zero tolerance law on any modified exhaust systems regarless of wether the pipes are loud or not.
I was at a meeting for a local club last week and speeding and non conforming exhaust systems will be #1 on special patrol officers wish list this season and will be implamented like never before. Fines will also go up this year from anywere from $100 to $500.
Its all part of the new zero tolerance plan on (any modified exhaust) loud or not.

He makes a good point on the whole Viper/SRX issue. I bought my Viper 2 years ago thinking it stay stock, well that planned changed. After riding my buddys SRX. Yea I could have bought a 01-02 SRX. But 2 things to MY liking wouldnt be there the LOOKS and having a UNIQUE sled. Once my sled is all finshed I'll have a whole new respect for it once I look under the hood and see all my hard earned cash and time sitting there. All of this has to do WITH PERSONAL PERFERENCE and what you wanna do with your stuff.
