I just purchased a 1996 Vmax Xt (Second one) engine seized shot rod through case (Lean jetting culprit). I have some questions regarding my options here.

Should I look for "Complete engine" of the exact same year?

Will any of the newer 96+ Yammy engines bolt in?

What about engine size, is there a bigger displacement twin that will bolt in. If so what year/model/size?

OR, should I just find some used cases and over bore cylinders?

With such a major failure is there any hope for existing engine?

Appreciate any assistance as I might have jumped into some deep water here as I am a snowmobile Newbie. Have rebuilt numerous mx bikes so hopefully that experience is helpfull.

There is a guy in maine that installed a srx engine in his. he said it was a real sleeper. No upper frame and alot of room in the compartment make for an easy install.

srx triple in the pogo chassis is ALOT of work. none of the mounts are compatable, all have to be custom fabricated. no room for the pipes under the hood, you will have to cut out the hood for the pipes. also, no room for silencer. you will have to custom make these also. coming from the voice of experience, i probably wouldnt do this again. find a compatable 600 twin, 94-97 should work.

Yea, I have another 96 XT so don't really want to Fab alot of stuff, this sled just not worth the effort due to weight. I will be looking for a viper next year and probably install the two up seat, spring & TSS upgrades and make it into the Vatillac (Vmax + Cadillac, that sucked didn't it) for fishing and taking the wife out.
Can I put bigger cylinders/Over bore on the twin 600 case?

somebody used to make a big bore kit, cant remember who. might me obsolete. try hauck or bender. dave vmax 600, i have pictures of the triple installed. i use this sled for drag applications only. i cant post pics but i can email to you.

Hmmmmmmmm! That would suprise some people. Nobody would think twice about Old blue pulling up, pogo's on front, then unleash 700cc clutched, piped madness - might have to add :nos: . Almost worth it for the entertainment value.
