I just finished making my own seat riser out of aluminum for my viper kind of like Excells but polished to matched the tunnel . Ill have some pics posted when i install it . its gonna look awsome !

The seams will be much tighter when I do the final install , and i had to trim the plastic bumper cover a little but anyway there you go .
The sheet of 5052 mill finish aluminum was a 24 x 48 by .080 thick . Under $60 ,A buddy welded the visible seams and I ground and polished it . Still needs some hand rubbing once fully mounted . Compared to excells for $250 , I think itll do just fine .

Looks great - Nice work. What are you using to hold your seat on? Could you draw up some plans and post them?

Im not to worried about sliding too far ahead , The 700 tripple keeps you back in the seat just fine !
Im going to use the factory seat bolts to mount the seat and the front seat tabs still hold the front in . ill probably rivet the front of the riser down and bolt it down in the back . I did have to remove the trunk bottom from the seat so it fits tighter , but the seat fits the riser pretty tight after that . I used the bottom of the seat for the shape and just cut some sides that angled from 0- 3.5 inches at the back . The whole thing is actually 4 peices welded together .Im not to satisfied with the notches on the bottom but I needed to cut it to bend the round shape for the back of the seat . If anyone is really interested i could probably draw something up , Id be glad to help a fellow rider with any ? on building one for themselves but Im not interested in building another one .

The seat riser looks great, really you did a great job. Too bad you will not make another one. I think I could give a shot at make one, can you post the blueprint or a drawling of size, material, weld machine used, etc.
Thanks.

I made this seat riser for my Viper. Rises about 3cm (1.25") in the front and 8cm (3.25") in the back. Made it out of two pieces of plywood and spray foam (used when installing windows and so on. dont know the exact word in english). Painted it with water proof paint and the dressed it with black vinyl. Sprayed the Yamaha logo with white vinyl paint. Ride hight is awesome now. I´m 6´2" so this fix was really needed. What do you guys think?

Well, I´m not much of a metal worker but I know wood so I was thinking how do I make a light weight seat riser out of wood. I figured that I´d first make the shape of the riser out of plywood, drill LOTS of holes in it (to loose weight) and then fill it with this spray foam to make it stiff. Then I just used a saw and a knife to cut all the excess foam away, and sanded it down to the perfect shape. Idea worked out pretty good. Of course an aluminum riser would weigh less, but this riser got quite light as well. Weighs about 3.7kg (8lbs). Got really cheap too

Here´s some more pics...

Freaky!! That is the exact same idea as I had... you were first though :) Too bad I didn´t find this forum sooner. That would have saved me ALOT of thinking. ;)
