My son just bought a 99 600ER and wants to remove the electric start to lighten the sled. Is a wiring harness change required? Any info on this would be appreciated.

It would probably help if I had the installation instructions for the Yamaha electric start kit and then we could just reverse the process. If anyone has them and could scan them for me it would be greatly appreciated!!

Also is there much of a market for used electric start and reverse?

Thanks!!

Anybody? :o|

I did a search and didn't find too much.

I see that the non-electric start models have a "smoothing condensor", I assume that I will have to install one of these. My 98 Vmax 500 doesn't have one of these on it. Does anyone have a photo, or can you tell me where it plugs into?

Thanks,

Ken

"smoothing condensers" are just a couple of capacitors installed to make up for the missing battery that would give you a more level +12 volts. On mine they are located right around the volt regulator.

Just curious?? How much does the electric start weigh?
The same as a few cans of wiggle pop and a pain killer to get rid of the sore shoulder!!!
I weighed the parts for my sxr before I put them on and I got 10 pounds + 10-11 pounds for the battery.
