just kinda polling to see what the outcome of a race between a stock 02 viper with es and reverse and a 98 zrt600 would be.
what do i need to do to ensure that i'm faster.
any suggestions?
thanks

I think you should be faster then he is as long as you hook up. I think they have like 110hp so you got more hp then he does.
what do stock viper's have?
and also, if i wanted to take the electric start off, do i need to do anything special? or will it run the same without the battery?

stock vipers are around 119-121 and i believe you need to keep the battery for it to run. cant remember what its hooked to that makes if different but it has to do with the servo.
i'm going to be trail riding primarily, does anyone have any good suggestions for me on what i should do first as far as mods?
96's were 125hp, 97 saand up were 118. If they are clutched and jetted right they will haul. They were not clutched well stock, and were fairly rich.

you can take the electric start off but you have to do some other things as well...such as adding a something something smoother something....
wasn't paying that much attention to the post at the time since i don't have one with electric start but someone on here has done it...
do a search for electric start removal..

If he is setup he will be hard to beat, got right around the same h.p. Whoever gets the holeshot, as in most races, will have a huge advantage. Traction and clutching will be your biggest gains by far.
thanks for the info guys. what clutch setup do you think i should go with?
his sled is bone stock, so i should be able to beat him if i do something with the clutch right? (i have a picked track so that should help with traction.)

With a hook up and the right clutching you have a big advantage over any sled off the line that is sitting there spinning. If you want a good clutch set up go to teh tech pages, where turk has a hole bunch of good set ups.

97's were rated @ 119 hp but I think thats a little low. The 99's were 124 with power valves. A friend of mine had one, and I know it would probably have won against my stock viper. They are geared for the lake, so top speed was high. M2C. I know that it smoked my XC 700 across the lake every time!

They did not have powervalves until 2001. I had a 2000 it did not have powervalves. I think 2002 was the final year of the ZRT 600.

Joe Doug and I are going to go Sat & Sun if we get snow. I have to change my jets clutching back for ditch banging. I think we will start over in Davenport.
