02 Viper Fuel Pump ???????

Alright I was wondering bout the fuel pump mod, I did this the year I bought the sled. But was wondering about the hole in the bottom of the fuel pump that the rivet goes on to the tunnel. Is this some kinda ventilation hole that SHOULD NOT be plugged with silicone? Or is there no big deal if silicone blocks or clogs that hole? I'm cleaning up the old silicone that I used and redoing the mod. Any help is apprecaited, Thanks Brett

Pump problems!!!

Just make sure to space the pump 3/16 or so inches above the chassis with washers. The pump normally will lay on the aluminum chassis and freeze with any water laying their. If the sled pump freezes and you get stuck have everybody in the group piss on the pump and that will thaw out the pump and off you go. Temporary fix till next time. The Cats, Doos and poos in your group will love pissing on your sled. Priceless.

What about layering the whole bottom of the fuel pump with silicon? Would this be a NO NO?

lol, for the pump i woul djust take some rubber hose and cut about .250 chunks and use them to shim up the pump.

Yes you can just shim the pump up off the tunnel, and leave the hole open. The problem occurs when the pump is bolted flat on the tunnel, and lays in water, sucks in that water, then freezes when the sled sits.
If your sled is piped, I would leave the hole open. If it's stock, probably dosn't matter. However just raising the pump will fix the problem.

I filled the hole, and raised the pump, seems to run fine at the moment. Anybody else fill the hole and have it run the same... says it supposed to...
