Wish I would have had the time, money and place to do this while I was up there!
Quote from my friend who sent this to me.
one of the Tech students he works with built this. Pretty trick. Apparently, he rode it to the Yamaha dealership to show them that you could put a Honda streetbike motor in a sled too...
Not all Michigan Tech guys are nerds!
Honda CBR1000 motor, 162" track, couple months of build time. steering appears to be some sort of cable setup....not sure about that among other things, but thought you might find it interesting.....
oh yeah, gotta love the coolant overflow bottle.

that's pretty awesome! Odd track choice though... you'd think he'd go with a asphalt track.

I am sure he isn't planning on running much pavement, they are already behind on snow up there so he had to do something to test, ha.

Very cool.
Where are the clutches?
Wonder if he will be able to get the sled registered. Needs a headlight and tail light...
Looks like a twist throttle from a bike.

Clutches are prolly inside the motor since its a motor from a street bike and they do use hyduralic clutchs on them bikes. If it is a 6 Speed Shifter Sled I'll pay for blueprints!!!!!!!LOL No joke cause that has always been one thing I wanted on my sled is be able to shift gears like a dirt bike. Plus Ive been looking for a project for school.

not bab at all, pretty neat! wonder how it goes
he shoulda made it a 6 speed that has a shifter on the tunnel

Looks like there is no caster built into the front end. My guess is it is very unstable at high speed. Very creative though.

I believe they look like throttle and shift cables from an outboard - nice as salvage parts, but spendy if you are going to buy them.
That is pretty damn cool.
Looks like a shock attached under the seal for some extra a$$ travel.
