Howie & SRXspec, cool stuff. Did you guys use the stock battery tray or something else? Looking at SRXspec's pictures it looks like the back and front walls of the stock battery tray have been cut off? Is this right? Thanks, G.B.

Howie & Srxspec, did you also have to remove the parking brake? I don't see it in the pictures. Thanks, G.B.

I left the parking brake in place, just had to adjust it up a little.... You can use the stock tray and cut it down. SRXspec gave me this info 2-years ago. System works great and I think the Odessy PC-545 is better than the stock battery. You also may want to remove the foam and put some heat tape on the lower right belly pan. The can sits close to the plastic. SLP can sounds really cool and I noticed very little if any difference in performance. The cool sound far out-weighs any performance loss.

Thanks Howie,
I was looking at this setup on my sled last night and I think this battery would also fit in same orientation as stock just pushed rearward over the right side floor rest. It looks like I would have to really cut up the stock battery tray to make it fit. I stumbled across a battery tray out of SeaDoo PWC that I think would work great. In case others are interested, here is the best price I have found so far on the battery.

Thanks again for the info. Brett

YamerDown, haven't had a 2-stroke trail sled of my own in three years. Sorry I don't have any sound clips.
I see. Missed the date at the top of that post.
Thanks anyway.

Back to the point of the thread.
I did the Bender 4X4 and SLP can to shed weight. Lost about 300rpm at the top, UNTIL I had the pipe coated (can was already coated). I got the RPM back and did NOT lose any power over stock! So, as Kirkswim pointed out, you can solve the problem with wrap or a good ceramic coating on the pipes and can. I did the Jet-Hot process and it's nice and thick. I think the biggest and most dominant change to this mod was dumping all the extra weight off the nose. World of difference!

Maybe that is why Yamaha wraps the hell out of those exhausts from the factory. Two strokes in general do like cold engines and HOT pipes...

I forgot to add that I had the exhaust manifold ceramic coated also. The key is to keep the heat in the exhaust for faster flow, and not in the engine compartment. Before I coated the pipe and manifold, I was getting some temp lights. Not now.
