I have everything back together for the most part. (I had a bolt that I need to get longer cause of a thicker exhaust gasket and a new peice of oil hose.) I've got a hole left over. It's on the exhaust side of the crankcase between the two coolant drain holes. It's kinda on a raised section where the two halves meet. I am stumped. I can't find any extra bolts. I can't find a good photo of what it is supposed to be. I can't imagine just having a bolt hole with nothing in it...

It's a 96 600 xt twin. If someone have a photo of that side of thier crank I can identify it, but I didn't take that photo....

Could this be the hole for the electric starter to bolt to? From looking at some really bad photos, it almost looks like it should line up. I measured the hole and it only goes about 3/4" in. I didn't have a pick on me to see if it goes actually into the crank.

Does this picture help? I'm assuming it is where you bolt the electric start.
