Qusetion for you all??? I'm going too be putting in a new set of rings in a few days in my viper.The question is, do i need to hone the cylinders, I believe so, So the rings will seat properly. The coating in the cylinders Nicasil??? Or whatever it is,I don't want to damage anything. I think even if i was too say take off .0005 Just too rough it up a little???????All input would be great!!!!

There Nic coated,,, good question i've heard both yea and nea,we did my
bother inlaws '01 cyl's last year with a ball hone cant remember the grit , with no problems,did a comp. and a leak down 500 miles later and
everything was great..

nicasil is so hard you will hardly do anything to it with a hone, so... no, you dont have to do it and it will be fine. You will most likely see the cross hatch marks still in it from when it was new. If you cant slep at night without doing it, use a 280 grit stone on it and go up and down about 2-3 times, thats it.
