what to do

What the heck was ford thinking. I wish I had a dime for every time I said that. As for taking the cab off, thats a good idea, just hope I never have to do it.

its really not that bad,, similar to doing an engine in a safari van or astro van, where ya lift the whole body off. Much easier than pulling the motor out the front. But yes, at work every day at least one of us says either "what was ford thinking" or "if I ever meet a Ford engineer, I'mma punch him right in the mouth" lol.......they got alot of poorly planned stuff out there.....none of which is too bad for the consumer other than labour costs, but for us that gotta fix em, they'er aweful...

I've done a few frame changes when I worked at a frame shop so that part wouldn't scare me. Its telling the costomer how mutch his or her tune up is going to cost that would scare me. Not to mention the costomer watching me take the body off there truck to change plugs. Its hard to tell the costomer that a simple tune up may turn into a real big job. They may lose trust and confidence in me. I tell them up front what can happen and that the dealer has the right tools for the job, and that usually scares them off.

well the ford 4.6's plug change isn't that hard and i have never had to put mine in 4wd when towing or driving no matter what the roads are like, i only use 4wd when i plow.

Never had a Ford or Dodge truck but I had a couple 2wd chevys before I got a 4x4. One was forgettable, the other one was a 2wd 305 with POSI (or limited slip) rear end. It had a higher GVW capacity than the 4x4 of that year, got great mileage and on the boat ramp at least both wheels pulled and we never lost a trailer.

I really don't know a thing about the Fords, some love them. I have an 89 GMC that up until recently was driven every day, 390,000 miles 4X4 3/4 ton. Best truck I have ever been around. Along came my 96 Dodge extended cab 4X4 3/4 ton 325,000 miles, pretty darn good truck. Cummins / 5 speed.

I wouldn't trade any of them for my Chevy Suburban 4X4.

I don't know how things are where you guys are but I wouldn't look twice at a 2 wd pickup for our country.

Go with a 4X4.

...;)!

20" tires are not that expensive anymore! Ford and Chevy also have 20" options. My 2006 Ram Bighorn with a 2.5 inch lift will go anywhere the other trucks can even with my snowplowing crossmember.I think most trucks now days are pretty even in every catagory it's just a matter of personal preferance. Always go with a 4x4 unless it's for on road use only, you won't regret it.

nothing but chevy...(GM)A ford will get stuck in a forecast ,and the dodge will think it can pull it out!

No to disturb all the ford sucks entires (which we all know anyway) here but back to what I posted the thread for. I bought the truck. I turned it down earlier in the day on tuesday. Me and a buddy at work turned my blazer on to let it run and see if the collant lines to and from the heater core were warm. well the in hose was and exit hose was not. I made an appt with the mechanic to get it flushed out for the next day. So I closed my store and left to go to drop the blazer off for the next day. I was going to go to the dealer to get my deposit back. While I was driving I kept smelling something weird. I finally realized it was coolant coming through the air vents. So I was pissed but still kept with my decision. I got to the dealer and saw the new truck all detailed and lookin cool and said to myself wtf am I doing. I went in the dealer got the key and drove it again.. in snow btw. went back and told them have it ready by 9 am. I know it will suck in winter but frankly if you saw the truck you would understand. Not to mention I got it for 17k and it's brand new. Book on it is 26k. Oh yeah apparently my bank f&*ked up so the dealer got pissed about it and I ended up with 3k more for trade and a 3% lower apr. It lowered my payment by $40 more a month. Worse comes to worse I will trade it for a 4x4. At 9k bellow book value for a brand new truck.. cant beat it. And as for snow I dont seem to get that anymore. Some lite snow the other day otherwise it's been about 60 here for along time.. I'll deal for now. It made the sleds fate that is on the line now. No snow = one really useless machine. Not that I havent enjoyed staring at it in the garage for almost a year. Anyways I 'll keep you all updated.. btw I agree f&*k ford, hehe!

Well about time you post back...LOL

if your happy with it that's all that matters i guess
hope you have good luck with her, sounds like you got
a good deal thats always cool, good luck with her.

:winterrul :letitsnow

yeah been too busy to come on the last few days, lol. I like it alot. It's my first brand new vehicle. I'm neverous for the winter but it just couldnt be passed up. I will definitely buy a 4x4 next time around but for now this will do. Alot of people say they are fine even when pulling through snow.. we will see!

TOYOTA 4x4, Best built truck on the market. I work on GM, FORD, and DODGE every day. The only truck I would drive is a TOYOTA. Ever try and change plugs on a 5.4 Ford 4x4. You will never buy a Ford after that. Ever get stuck in the snow with a newer dodge 4x4, That front crossmember acts like a plow it's so low, jams up with snow, jams the steering rack and blows the rack. Don't get me wrong Gm has faults too, but not as many as Ford and Dodge. As for 2wd or 4x4, I will never own another 2wd again.
FIXED IT FOR YOU! :bump:
